Exactly, they should come up clean at this point if anything is any different than this, until than, it's like that.

On other hand, Nektar clearly stated their terms, so it's not the same thing as this.

Aparently it doesn't matter, this link says that deal with Nektak customers has already expired on August 31st, 2015
https://www.bitwig.com/en/home/news-arc ... ektar.html

This link is here
https://www.bitwig.com/en/8-track/nektar
because there's other controller companies offering the same deal.
Here's two that are...

Hi,

first of all, thanks for your interest in Bitwig Studio 8-Track.

Although it is technically possible to download the software without having bought the respective Beat issue, it's not right. We hope that you do the right thing and buy the magazine to support Bitwig and Beat, so that we can bring you attractive special versions of music software in the future.

If you're interested in buying a Beat issue, feel free to drop us a mail via http://www.beat.de/kontaktformular.html. If you're interested in a subscription, please head over to http://www.falkemedia-abo.de/aboservice/beat/jahresabo. We're also working on a subscription model for our DVD content, so that international customers can also get our special versions.

Best regards from the Beat team

So technically if buying a PDF version of the issue with 8-Track it is OK to register and use it?

Not free, but I mean that is still a bargain at just something like €5

Thanks for the heads up, appreciated. To make it clear from the outset: I support your points in general, and also encourage everyone to support your mag whenever possible, because I'm quite a fan of yours.

But in this specific case you're taking the easy way out, at least to some extent. If you give away an issue for free and don't explicitly state that the software is not supposed to be included, then you just can't blame the people who took your gift, including the software - whether they did it because they didn't know better and, as you already said, it was also perfectly possible to get the software via your very own service or for any other reason.

The thing is: you have got a whole bunch of back issues, which you could give away for free - and a lot if not most of them simply don't include any software, because it's only on the disc. That's perfectly fine. But if you really choose an issue where it is actually possible to get the included software via the web, and you don't clearly ask the users not to redeem any software from this issue, and then you complain about those who did it anyway - then I think it's just not fair to mark your very own (potential) customers as "morally not right".

Don't get me wrong: I really appreciate it that you give away an issue. But as I said, you could have taken dozens of other ones without any problems, neither for you nor for the users that you now blame retrospectively.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! We don't blame anyone who supports Beat by buying a PDF. As mentioned, a subscription model for the DVD content is in the works, so that everyone who's only interested in the software can get it for an attractive price.

Reason does not have MPE support... so for me, not even close to a Bitwig substitute
