Logic Pro X versus MainStage

My rough understanding is that MainStage is a live-performance oriented subset of Logic Pro X. Is that about right? Or does MainStage have anything (sounds/instruments, other features) that is not in Logic? Can either be used as instruments inside other DAWs (I've read that Logic only works as a rewire host and not slave, but MainStage may be more flexible)?
