Well, actually the logo is a very important part of the UI, as you just pointed out. Companies spend a small fortune on them because they know that having an appealing one can make them, and having an unappealing one can break them.
Unfortunately, it's been extrapolated from there that making an emotional connection with potential customers is the way to go. That's why all the heart-tugging mini-movies only marginally connected to the product. Personally, it's my policy to never buy from a company that does that. If possible. Merchants have no allegiance to anything except their money. As has been noted as early as the first records.
Back on topic, their web site seems to be down. I hope that's because of the rain here in CA, USA and not because they're out of money. It really is a very competent program at a very reasonable price. Slap a nice interface on it and sales would double.

Straight up hater, because that is a false statement, and obviously meant to defame Acoustica.
What person in this day and age, who has an Internet connection, fail to do a little research before making such claims? I'll tell you who, only haters looking to get their jollies off.
A quick virus scan done by professionals would have answered the question, but no let's just spread some bull out on the Internet.
Mixcraft is my main DAW not because of the looks, but because it makes the job easier and quicker to finish it. The only thing I need to do for the people looking over my shoulder is to deliver something good. MC can do that just as well as any other DAW.
No need for beauty contest here, unless you looking to lay your DAW.

And actually I use to feel the same way about such addon services, except Acoustica has done a really good job of implementing those services into their product.
I thought it was pretty cool that I could upload my material from within the program, and that was one of the reasons I bought it. I didn't say it was the best, but I am saying that it can hang with the best of them!
My hats off to them for looking out for the budget minded people, and not just the people with $$$ to burn through their pockets who just have to have the latest "thing." Now if you want to look at what MC can do for the money, then it starts to come out the clear winner.
I will say that it is the looks that stopped me from using it in the past, but once I tried out the demo of MC8 I was sold. No, it's not perfect and has some issues, but don't they all?

This is shocking in a disgusting way! I used his free plugs many years ago and almost bought his commercial ones. I'm glad I didn't.mcbpete wrote:Woah, this is the first time I'd heard about this. How low can some persons reach?! The world is already filled with shit!
Anyway, Mixcraft has no relation to that shit, so I suppose users can just delete the classic effects.
For the bundled internet apps, other DAWs also have done that. Sonar and S1 among others. Personally, I don't like these social and musical services and I think many don't as well.
I believe if Mixcraft makes a deal with plugin developer, say Toneboosters, and putting his commercial ones, that IMO, is much better than the bundled freeware.

The website loads fine.
Mixcraft weems pretty cool. What I like about it is that it seems to have everything that's needed without the bloat of some of the so-called big guys. One of the other things that is appealing is that it also handles Acid files and seems to do so much like Acid used to. Many years ago I used a much more straightforward daw that maybe wasn't perfect but that I felt like I knew really well. Back then I got a LOT more music done than I have in the bigger daws that I've tried since then. I think Mixcraft might be a refreshing return to that more efficient workflow. So I'm still on the fence regarding picking up Mixcraft but am giving it some serious thought.
Oh, and the other nice thing is that it doesn't require a fancy dongle to run, just a regular serial number.
The part about Kjaerhus is very unfortunate. Perhaps the folks at Acoustica are not familier with his dubious past?

Man, I would never have known about Kjaerhus if I hadn't heard it here. Personally, I wouldn't care if it didn't have a single plug-in. That's an easy fix. Mixcraft is very well thought out. It just looks kind of Windows XP'ish.

the issue about 'Kjaerhus ' plugins aside ( which i would not have a clue about has i not accidentally read this thread today, the inclusion of social media links and other 3rd party crap would be a good enough reason to decline installation straight away.
it's such a sign of cheapness and this stuff can be a huge pain in the arse to uninstall. so no mixcraft for me. gone from mildly curious to totally uninterested. As King Trump would say, "sad".

ps. perhaps the developer could adress this issue directly on these forums. i don't really want to judge someone based on hearsay.inkwarp wrote:the issue about 'Kjaerhus ' plugins aside ( which i would not have a clue about has i not accidentally read this thread today, the inclusion of social media links and other 3rd party crap would be a good enough reason to decline installation straight away.

I think that there should be an option to install the "extras" when you install the program....
That would be a smart move I reckon

Re "extras", I wish Acoustica would group the older plugins into a "legacy" category so that I could have a cleaner starting point. As it is, you get a lot of stuff when you install Mixcraft but the quality is all over the map.

Indeed, the DAW as such is pretty good, but I don't want all those crappy plugins on my new computer. I would like to be able to deselect all plugins during installation. Only the DAW and the raw sampled content...Triplefox wrote:Re "extras", I wish Acoustica would group the older plugins into a "legacy" category so that I could have a cleaner starting point.
