Back in 2016, I decided to evolve Studio One's Impact instrument... it's a sort of a hybrid. Recently in the past few months I've been experimenting with something a bit more radical in design, but here's how it's first incarnation looked that I posted.

I prefer specialized plugins, bought Geist 2 a while ago...

That Impact plugin in the image doesn't actually exist, it's a graphic mockup. In that regard, it's useless for anything but speculating how something might be, or I suppose in this case, demonstrating graphic design skills or something?

It looks nice enough, but it's of no practical use to anyone.

Post

it looks horrible too.
imo : )

Is it safe to say we are not getting any updates for S1 in this years Namm?

Record deal checkbox on export.

There should be a major update around the corner, cause S1 just got the few maintenance updates since May 2017. I wish the UI could be more clear and organized like the zone concept from cubase.

Studio One 3 was released in May 2015, so who knows... perhaps we will see version 4 in May 2018. Also one of the official forum moderators stated that their „Quality Assurance Specialist“ is „[...] too busy at the moment“ to answer PMs from forum members. I suspect something is going on regarding the release of new products.

I really hope Studio One 4 will include a MIDI drum editor and an overall clearer designed GUI. Stabilty could be improved, too. On my system S1 quite often quits unexpectedly when opening or closing plugins.

Are you on a Mac running High Sierra?

Post

Yup, but I had the same stability issues with S1 before High Sierra was released.

Post

I had the same on a iMac 10.1 running Sierra (i read on the Presonus forum that it was supposed to be mostly an issue with High Sierra though). Crashes when plugins were scanned or loaded. Guess they never really could sort that out.

On my Windows 10 machines, S1 is very stable, FWIW.

It's very unlikely that 4.0 will be released in May 2018, version 3.6 is a distinct possibility however... the 3.5 release arrived 2 years later from May 2015...

I wouldn't read too much into what the QAS is doing, it doesn't really reflect what if anything big and significant is happening on his end and why there may be a reluctance to communicate to users...

Studio One 2 was released in the beginning of 2012, and version 3 was released in August 2015. So, not entirely impossible that version 4 comes 3, or 3 1/2 years later. But, you never know. AFAIC, they can take their time.

I'm on Sierra and since the latest update of S1, this has been happening to me too. Sometimes all is OK, but then other times just touching a plugin brings on an unexpected quit of the app.

I reinstalled S1 and that helped for a while.

They need to get this mess of a piano roll cleaned up!
