Hey guys
We just posted a new run-down of what we think are the best 15 DAWs available in 2014. Hopefully beginners will find it super-useful to help navigate the sea of choices and find the right software for their requirements; would love to get your suggestions, comments, and generally find out how much consensus there is these days in terms of different producers software choices...

"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Just FYI: Reaper doesn't have an official Linux version. Afaik, there's an alpha, and you can run it on Wine. But that's not like officially supporting Linux.

I like Sonar, but it is indeed crash-prone (even when I put a render path to the desktop it gets mad!!!)

You're not missing anything. It's just another list of the same DAWs you see in every other "best DAWs" list, with a brief ~two-sentence overview for each one. Ableton is #1, Bitwig is #2, Reaper is #15. Everything else is somewhere in the mix (no pun intended).
Logic Pro | PolyBrute | MatrixBrute | MiniFreak | Prophet 6 | Trigon 6 | OB-6 | Rev2 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Polar TI2 | Blofeld | RYTMmk2 | Digitone | Syntakt | Digitakt | Integra-7

how is this super-useful ?? not even a basic analysis or comparison of features. there is no real info given regarding strengths and weaknesses, that a prospective buyer might need. there is no feeling that those responsible for the article have spent enough time with these to even know that they should make it onto a recommended list.

i am not trying to be down on you, but i just can't see this type of article adding anything of worth, especially when you can get a much better idea of what's happening on 'ground zero' in various daw user forums

this just seems like an attempt to garner hits and affiliate payments. just more talk, more noise, and more emissions

No entry-level DAWs like Music Maker or Garage Band? Clearly the list is subjective as the best DAW is the one that suits you best. Perhaps a more adequate name would have been 'The most popular' or 'Best middle-to-high-end' DAWs... Been making music (http://www.magix.com/gb/make-music/) for years with MM, looking to upgrade, Reaper looks like a good option.

I would not put Bitwig in this list (yet) because it's too buggy and has too many missing features. It's far away to be the #2. People which needs audio manipulation (and this are a lot) will not have so much fun only with Live. That's why so many producing with a different DAW or using Live only as a scratchpad and on stage.

The best DAW is IMO the DAW with the most complete feature set (this includes a audio editor for sample based manipulation), excellent Midi support, video support, score editor etc. and this in combination if there are regularly updates and new features available. We can also speak about the user base or compare it with some polls how many users preferring which DAW.

After this we can speak about DAWs with a limited feature set but with a focus to a special usage and with a big user base.
