Hey, folks:
I think I may have a buggy version of Tracktion 3. When I record, the system records, we advance, we go forward, all seems well -- but when I hit Stop, the recorded portion instantly deletes, nowhere to be found. Do I have a setting wrong someplace? Or should I just get another version?

What OS are you running Tracktion 3 on?
I've used it on Windiws Vista and briefly on a Mac with Snow Leopard. I've not experienced this behavior. I mostly used it for synth testing, though, not audio recording.
Tracktion 3 is pretty old. I have no idea if there are compatibility issues with newer operating systems.

Tracktion 5 is free and I think one of the big differences from Tracktion 3 is support for more modern operating systems, so that is probably a good place to start: https://www.tracktion.com
Upgrades to the latest version are pretty cheap if you have an existing license too.

Most problems come from old codecs and drivers. You should visit the Traction's homepage. There are links to all you need.
Plus be sure to have updated soundcard drivers. As for me this could be the cause.
Ok, so without providing your OS and hardware models, I can offer you the following links to check:
Tracktion forum here on KVR: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=22
User manuals: https://www.tracktion.com/training/manuals
Tutorials: https://www.tracktion.com/training/videos
I hope some of this helped you. Cheers!
