There is a new MuLab pre-release version 5.0.39 on http://www.mutools.com/mulab-downloads.html

This is what's changed:
  • Removed the "DroppedAudioFilesLengthThreshold" preference and replaced that decission logic by an explicit popup choice dialog.
So when dropping an audio/sample file on the composer you get an explicit choice how to use this audio: As a streamed audio file, as a pitched sample or as a sliced sample.
  • Also when dropping audio files (Aiff, Wave, Mp3, Ogg) into the browser more appropriate logic is used.
  • New "SampleFileLengthWarningThreshold" preference, in seconds.
If you're trying to load samples that are longer than this preference, a warning question will popup.
    Default = 300 secs = 5 minutes.
  • You can now also drag-drop audio files and samples below the tracks in the composer so to create a new track with this audiofile/sample.
  • Fixed+tuned the behavior of the browser splitter.
  • More explicit coloring of selected items in lists.
  • More explicit darkening of the inactive region in the sequence and envelope editors.
  • Fixed a possible little problem with drawing notes on odd grids.
  • OSX: Fixed a couple of issues in the MIDI IO engine.
  • A couple of little optimizations.
  • Finetuned a couple of aspects in the library.
  • You can now also drag-drop MuClips into a MUX deep editor.
  • When editing individual envelope points the time field did not use the envelope grid to step to the previous/next time positions. Fixed.
  • Finetuned behavior when pasting envelope points on grids like 1/24th. (avoiding float var rounding issue)
  • Fixed a couple of coloring issues wrt custom front panels.
  • Fixed a potential crash bug when loading presets into the Multi-Point Envelope.
A full new install is necessary because of the changes in the graphics folder and library. To copy your current user settings, see http://www.mutools.com/info/docs/mulab/ ... ation.html

New MUX Vst 5.0.39 is on its way out too, but will arrive tomorrow. It will contain an important workaround for a problem in Live 8.

Yeah I am using the multicore feature but it will be hard to see if it makes a difference seeing how rarely it happens. Maybe when I give it a month of testing - two weeks on multicore, two weeks on single.

The new MUX Vst 5.0.39 pre-release is available on http://www.mutools.com/mux-downloads.html

On top of the M5.0.39 changes listed above, these changes are specific for MUX Vst:
  • Fixed a problem wrt using push buttons.
  • Implemented a workaround for a VST implementation bug in Ableton Live 8.
  • Tightened certain aspects in the MuTools VST interface (plug-in side) resulting in a more stable interface.
  • Added a bunch of preset shortcuts to the package eg Undo, Redo, Select All, etc.
The complete M5.0.39 change log is on http://www.mutools.com/mulab-mux-change-log.html

Thanks for the updates! :D

What does the term "pre-release" mean? MuLab 5 has now been officially released, right?
No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

Nope not yet. M5 is in pre-release stage. The pre-release stage gives the opportunity to say goodbye to M4, distribute the M5 keys, doing some final tweaks to the software, docs, lib, tutorials etc. The release itself is for one of the days.

Just spotted a slight conflict in the documentation: http://www.mutools.com/info/docs/mulab/ ... sions.html
For example: You can use VST plug-ins in MuLab Free, but only in demo mode.
That would imply zero VSTs without the demo mode noise triggering.
Num VST Plug-Ins Per Session: MuLab Free - 8
That, however, would imply eight.

Ahh ok.. I thought that from the moment that M5 could be downloaded from the official link on the website and only M5 license could be bought, it was officially released publically (instead of the open bèta's from the web folder)

Sorry if i repeat again such an obvious fact, but i think the concept behind this host is absolutely brilliant

When you wrote about the free version that a creative mind can do a lot with only 4 tracks...this added to all the possible workaround he will and should find (easy bouncing tracks, etc..)
He can indeed do a lot and WILL HAVE TO learn by the way many fundamentally useful tricks to handle such a sequencer in all aspects (with quite simplified and very effective introduction to synthesis and sampling, for instance) and be able to compensate most of the issues due to the limitation of his platform
Of course, there is then many counterintuitive notion to face, but nothing mind boggling in such a simplified environment, and it will be all benefit for the improvised producer

I'm very sensitive at this very fair and likely sincere aspect in where the will of a motivate beginner is spontaneously canalized to learn the most important and useful bases in sequenced composition and sound design (among other things) in parallel, thinks without having nothing to buy except a platform (even obsolete models might do the job, plus a cheap microphone and earphones) and might you own the basis of production

And might be rather appreciated in countries like Burkina Faso (that i know quite well) , though a refurbished PC might still be expensive for residents, but not unaffordable anymore

Needless to say that you might grab into the bunch of free instruments and effects you might find into the net (or CM magazines)

 :tu:
