You can get up to the 'extract' part, but then there nothing to use and apply that groove. Sorry.
Unless you copy and work manually on the midi part that was 'extracted' and use the midi with a new instrument.
A little tip in the piano roll editor, if you click a note and then press the ALT key, you can move the note only vertically and your note timing is retained.
