Hi,

MUX is so nice, and would be even more nice with the doubled resolution on 4K / Retina screens. Once you get used to it, you don't want to go back :)

Thanks for consideration!

MuLab does have a "GUI Scale" preference so you can scale the whole UI. Is it that what you mean?

No, I am using a 4k screen on macos. When I open the mutools or mux gui, I only see full HD resolution. Would be nice if the mux gui was 4k, too.

Did you try changing the "Gui Scale" in MuLab / MUX preferences? (for MUX you might need to reload the host project / restart the host)
When you set "Gui Scale" to eg 200% the whole MuLab / MUX UI is perfectly scaled to quad resolution.

Hm here it is just 2x size :) 1/4 of the monitor resolution. Should stay exactly the same size, but doubled resolution. Maybe you can add a retina mode, so scaling actually keeps an eye on available pixels?

I'm afraid i don't understand the situation. Are you saying that if the MuLab/MUX "GUI Scale" is at 200% it's still too small for you?

Yeah, 4k usually needs 400% if you're going from the usual 1020p screen resolutions :)

Really :o
Well, it's clear i have no experience with that yet.

So if i understand it well (sorry if i'm a bit slow with this atm) the request is to add more options for the GUI Scale that go up to 400%, right?

Ok i've taken note on the wishlist about the need for higher Gui Scales as screen resolutions indeed go up and up year by year. Can't do that on short term though. It will also depend on the number of users requesting this. (FRs are also balanced by their frequency)

mutools, no, the request is to introduce a 2x (internal) scaling retina mode. The GUI elements need to have the doubled resolution then, instead 72dpi 144dpi. Or even more, if you want to stay future proof :) . macOS somehow still handles the desktop as it had 1920x1080, but it has doubled pixels, maybe if you scale it then to 0.5?

I mean a normal 2x full hd a.k.a. 4k / Retina. The desktop here is scaled to "standard" / bigger text (default setting) in the macOS display properties. So the size appears exactly as it was full hd, only doubled resolution.

Surely that's a tough task to do. Of course I can live without retina resolution :)

I don't see the difference with the "Gui Scale" feature.

Sorry if i'm missing something obvious.

I'm not sure if I have this correct, but, I believe it's like enlarging a 16x16 icon to fit a 64x64 area. You get the same resolution, all you've done is enlarge the original picture NOT upscaled the resolution to match the enlargement.

Is that right? :?

Hm no, a 16x16 icon would require 32x32 for retina and displayed like it was 16x16. Since 32x32 is 4x larger than 16x16

Ok, I got the size wrong but the underlying description is the same.
Is it possible for Mulab to use vector graphics? I'm not much of a graphics bod so don't understand stuff like this.
