Postby Jorroman; Sat Dec 30, 2017 5:49 am ASDR modulation problem

Helllo,

I'm trying to work out some little "choker" module: let's say, I've got a cymbal rack with long sustained sound. The job of this choker would be to mute the sound on note event. Quite normal.

The natural way I find in Mulab is to place a new MUX in a cymbal rack, just after the cymbal itself, put an amplifier inside the MUX and let its gain be modulated by ASDR envelope on dedicated note event. Seems logical, doesn't it?

However, the problem is that as soon as I connect an ASDR (no matter with what envelope settings) the signal mutes (it doesn't happen with other modulators, like LFO or wobble gen).

The manual clearly states that the envelope turns on only on note input. I'd like to achieve sth like this: envelope works only when a key is pressed (on a dedicated track). Where could I go wrong?

Thanks!

Did you connect the Event Input in the MUX to the ADSR?
If yes, insert an Event Monitor, to see if you actually get an event.

If you insert your MUX in a Mudrum or Musynth, please note that only in the first slot notes are received.

Now it works for me - seems that I misinterpreted the scale of the envelope: thought that the middle X axis (middle value) refers to 0db of gain. In case of amplifier this line refers to -∞ and maximum level is 0db gain.

However thanks a lot for your help.

Tip: You can switch the ADSR between unipolar and bipolar mode via Context Menu -> Edit Properties.
(mmm, maybe these controls should simply be in the main panel)

+1 for putting it in the front panel.
