i am really in trouble. i have a very important concert in 2 weeks. i am working so hard on it, designing with ableton live, augustus loop and lemur, what i thought it would be the unbeatable live looper. but agusutus is really giving me troubles on and on.

i have 6 augustus loops. all in "host mode" and digital mode. one of them is set in "master 1" all the rest are set in "tempo 1". rounded tempos for live is also activated.

there's no way i can make it get in sync. it makes weird and unsuspected things. really really discouraging.

especially there's a piece at 150 bpm, in which i record one loop of 4 bars, then mute that augustus using fade, then record a 8 bars loop in another augustus. when i play the 4 bars loop, it's moved 1 beat ahead!!

i would really appreciate any help. i¡m starting to be desperated...

thanks a lot.

PLEASE: someone HELP.

i have a very important gig in 12 days, i have been working in a giant new set up, which relies totally in augustus loop... which has resoulted to be the weakest poing of my chain.

i use 6 augustus loop (as you can read in my first post), and they get out of sync from each other. this is very frustrating and even intimidating... i have read all things related to augustus sync in ableton, i've tried almost every convination. but augustus behaves like a bad toy.

someone out there to guide me, i beg you.

thanks in advance.

the out of sync problem comes when i press "fade override". then one loop mutes, when i press it again and un-mutes, then it's out of sync. damn!

Post

If they're all using Host Sync, why do you need to use the Master and Tempo sync settings?

Post

thanks for your reply.
after having sync problems that came like a ghost, from nowhere and unexpectedly, i read the manual 4 times, check forums... , i just tried to turn on every single thing that i though could help me. working only in host sync would made the loops get slightly out of sync as the time goes by.

yesterday i invested 4 hours of remapping everything and figuring out how to solve this, i stopped using the "fade override" binding (by substituting it for a fade in/out in augustus volume using a iac midi clip), it seems it did the trick.

the problem happens when i use "fade override" to mute the loops, when you un-mute them, they get out of sync, not always, but 30% of the times. i have suffered with this thing. yeah.

looping should be like a childrens game. i had no fun these last days. i wonder if i was missing something important for sync. but it seems i didn't.

any tips for a reliable sync of several augustus loops units??

Post

NO WAY.

there must be something really tricky going on here. taking away "override" binding didn't fix it. it was an illusion.

here it's again, one augustus loop goes half a beat out of sync as soon as i press some of my midi controllers. this is really going to finish me.

please, any tip?? what can make augustus loop to get out of sync half a beat??

Post

hallo andrew, thanks a lot for your time and attention.

i sent you an audio file. in it you can clearly listen how i record 3 loops. 8 bars, and also one of 4 bars.

in min. 0:24 you can listen that one of them get's out of sync 1 beat.

the only thing i did is pressing my midi bindings, down here you have the bindings i send in two press, from midi monitor. is there something in these midi data that is causing augustus get out of sync??

for what i know augustus only recives midi cc in channel 1 (in prefs. i didn't uncheck the box for midi in channels 1&2)

I can't imagine what would be causing that.

If you leave the plug-in windows open, and switch them to 'tape' display, you should be able to see something jump when this happens. That would be informative. If it's hard to play and watch the windows at the same time, maybe record a video of the screen.

i spent 4 days of my 12 days of rehearsal period ONLY trying to figure out what was causing it, and i watched the waveform for hours, sometimes it jumped, sometimes not.

i must say i was very desperate, frustrated and disappointed for the way augustus behaved, also for the support received (i suppose that due to vacation period).

i had a very important concert at a very prestigious museum in france, and i was trying to build a reliable loop system into ableton: augustus was my main piece, and i had to rebuild eveything almost from scratch as it failed again and again doing a so simple task: loop in sync with itself. 4 days of 10 hours day job just given away.

hopefully, 6 days before my concert, i found sooperlooper, a looper reliable as a train, with many powerful features, and a high responsible developer, who even helped me to customize and adapt some control aspects for my performance. that's a looper, that's a support. i don't even understand how is it possible sooperlooper is free (!!!) and i just had spent 20€ for upgrading augustus loop for nothing.

i am sorry to write a post like this, but this thing really made me suffer.
