I've been fooling around with skins in the demo and it seems that the Windows version ignores the gui.lua and always uses the default gui.lua. You can change the graphic elements but any changes made to gui.lua are ignored.
E.g. if I use other skins, their graphics will show up but the groups and all other non-sprite based elements will be as in the default skin.

I read that the gui.lua is hard-coded into the windows version and it seems that AL is ignoring any external gui.lua and reverting to default no matter what.

This isn't just the Windows version, it's Augustus Loop v2.4.0 on all platforms. I'll release an update to fix it.
