Holy smokes! Tell him Liquid Light said hi! He'll probably act like he doesn't know who I am......which he doesn't. :hihi:

But he's definitely my most favorite drummer of all. I'd class Rush as the best Canadian rock band ever.

Good day,
LL
It's a nice day for a melody.

Put up some new photos of Neil Peart, Terry Bozzio's insane kit as well and Foo Fighter's studio gear and misc stuff in the Studio ProFiles Sessions section of our myspace page: www.myspace.com/sonicreality If you're interested in the behind the scenes studio shot sort of thing.

By the way, don't fly US Airways. They suck. Horrible customer service and they can really screw you... as we have learned being stranded at the airport. Good news is that I am going to sample some airplanes in 5.1 with the extra time. Sounds killer!

You know what my big question is. Have you shown him your IMap technique ???

You are after all, the "Neil Peart" of Keyboard drumming.
Thanks,

[quote="qqq"]Having said that, Rush weren't big where I'm from....... Which track is the go-to track?[quote]

for two sides of the RUSH coin, pick up both "Moving Pictures" and "A Farewell to Kings" if you don't like both of those albums, forget about RUSH

as a fan of Rush since 1981, that's my two cents worth.

I think you would need a nice Rush sampler platter. something like chronicles

http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/mus ... nicles.htm

just go to youtube and search on rush and neil peart- than go buy the album, than make sure you see 'em live...

When I was a kid, i didn't care nothing bout the circus, I wanted to run away and join Rush :hihi:

+1 for Chronicles

Check out this Youtube video of a guy drumming to one of my very favourites entitled "Where's My Thing?". Not totally perfect but still very nice!

Nah. I'm only the Neil Part. There's only one Neil Peart.

I HAVE shown many incredible drummers my keyboard drumming and some are surprised and "wowed" and some are a little snobby about it and you can tell they think "eh, these keyboard players and their little fingers"... But overall they are fascinated by what we do even if not every single one of them FULLY understands exactly how... they just get directed by me "Hit it again.... again please? yes again... oh and again... we're going to be hitting this quite a lot! Okay now do the same round of 8 toms with snares off please?" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I was talking to Neil about playing his own kit from V-Drums after and he wasn't as interested in that (as say Omar Hakim was). So I think Neil is more just open to the idea of everyone else getting a chance to play around with his drum kit sound (and the rest of the project)... which is surprising and very cool. He's never done anything like this before.

Cool with some present hitech approach thinking!

Here is a clip that will tell you what Peart, drums and Rush is about:

Me likes the eighties...

Yup. I liked that track and Subdivisions and esp. YYZ (very Primus-like bass on that one)

BUT, I did notice one thing... These dudes must have made a shit-load of $$$$ along the way..... I mean they are not only stinkin' rich, but I'd have to say STANKIN' RICH, right? :hihi: (Q: Surely Neil needs more drums in his kit.... couldn't we make that possible, somehow? )

Pretty interesting, considering I've never heard a single track b4.... and they are my era ( me 38 )

One thing that puts me off tho' ....... The lead singer (a very un-attractive man indeed) seems to want to be a girl ...... hehe..... (At least he kept his fightin' weight over the years tho', unlike the other boys)
Off Topic, with a grain of salt

Watch some more live stuff too, though, and get a little more of an idea. That video is an excellent song but they are all so serious in it. I've seen them have WAY more fun than that over the years :)

My go-to Rush track is "Natural Science." Good synopsis of what they're about (aboot). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8G9e6kFy5-E

I just saw the snakes and arrows tour last summer and natural science was the definite highlight of the evening. had they just played this one tune that night, it would have been worth the admission price.

Yeah, these guys are serious about their music, but not too serious about how they present their music. There's almost always some joke in their album covers, and there's always some riff on threes (they are a trio, afterall) in there somewhere.

Last time I saw them was on the Vapour Trails tour, here in toronto at the Air Canada Centre. There were three washing machines on stage, next to Geddy's bass amps. Mid-set, just after they took their "breather," Alex and Geddy went to the washing machines and took tour shirts out of them, and began throwing them to the crowd.
