An congratulations for having the determination to take an orchestration course!
Thanks! Yeah, the hurdgy-gurdy has a bagpipe-ish sound, mainyl because of the drone strings.

After I got SS2, I made this.
Drums, bass and strings by SS2.

How do you think?

Since we have been talking about the Miroslav samples in the main threads, I suddenly remembered I never posted a final project from an advanced orchestration course I took this Spring through Berklee college (I took Orchestration I last Fall, I posted that project earlier).

It is inspired by an HP Lovecraft short story of the same name, and is about a small farm in New England that is slowly poisoned by an alien presence that manifests itself as a "colour".

My original vision for this piece was a lot bigger... I wrote a piano sketch that was nearly 4 minutes and, unfortunately, I didn't have time to develop the entire piece as I wanted (we only had 4 weeks to work on the piece, and one week I was away on vacation and had limited computer time). So what I did for the final project is more like a "trailer" for a film -- it shows a flavor of what I wanted to develop. And I will develop this piece more to fulfill what I had envisioned from the start.

This was written with Geniesoft's Overture app (which does a nice job of notation as well as MIDI editing, including CCs), used as a fronted to Reaper where I hosted 4 instances of Philharmonik. I also used Classik Studio Reverb and T-RackS 3 for the final mastering.

I'm just starting to go through this thread and i stumbled across your post.
Great drumming and guitar. They just fit so well to this melody.

I can see myself at a bar having a nice conversation with my friends and listening to this music. Very nice in deed

Post some more. :)

You can always tell if someone used VST2 or VST3. VST2 sounds much warmer.
