If Lennard releases it as a final build right now, there'll be a 'H2O' pirated release for download tomorrow. I can't blame him for keeping beta statuses for quite a while. Better that than a dongle.

Oh so he is not releasing it for months on end because it will get hacked? How does this make any sense at all?

Also a dongle would be fine by me.

Don't know WHY he does it but I'd just figure that would be a very good reason, wouldn't you agree ?

Ok, that's the thing about which we TOTALLY disagree then.

What problems are you referring to ? The latest beta is totally bug free AFAIK ?
you haven't quoted me right. you missed out the part where i wrote, that it is all written down in this thread.

so what do you want me to do? copy and paste bug reports from all entires in this thread for you that have not been answered? why don't you just read the last pages yourself?
Finally!

All the bugs that I've found in this thread are solved in the latest beta. So clearly, what I asked you to do, is show me one bug (or more, since you're referring to 'a couple of problems') that hasn't been solved.

look, i am not an owner of the plugin. reading this forum, seeing that the following did not even get a comment

- sample rate switching bug

- cpu usage (Ableton Live 8.1.4 on Mac OS X 10.5.8)

- projects not remembering saved preset changes (logic 9.1.1 on 10.6.4)

- portamento problem in 2.2.1

leaves me feeling abit uneasy. How would anybody outside the group of actual customers know, if these problems got fixed?

I re-read the thread and sometimes the problems couldn't be replicated and other times the problems were replicated and fixed. However, yes, I do agree you have a very legit point that potential customers can't verify themselves since they don't have access to the beta.

The reality is that the attention the beta and the web site get deters some people from buying. I'm one of those people. Lennard does seem to respond to customers that have problems. I'm not suggesting he doesn't care. But I won't buy until I feel confident that development efforts are where they should be in terms of bug fixes and the like. I'm not talking about new features; I'm interested in buying the synth for what it is today.

Lennard doesn't have to care, nor does anyone else, but there is a disconnect between maintenance of the product and its price.

Still in beta... :?:

If Sylenth1 was a $50 or $60 product I would be less concerned, but the dev has priced it in the range of some great synths that are updated on a regular basis, and who have devs that update the website and at least give some news from time to time. I don't care if they just tell me stories about their cats, at least I will know they are engaged and care.

A couple of years ago Sylenth1 did not have a lot of competition. Now it does. I really hope the dev has a friend who can do an intervention with him and get him to manage the business side properly.

Post

Although Sylenth1 works fine for me, I have to agree that it's bizarre a minor update like this to be in beta for half a year. I know he's perfectly responsive as far as support, but surely he must find to work on the synth sometimes?
