Also, we'd like to announce that we're close to releasing the new version of Sylenth1 that will fully support 64bit VST and AU for OSX! This update can be expected in the first months of 2015. We'd like to point out that the update will be free for all our customers!

Anyone know if this will be a 2.x release, or version 3?

Don't know, but I think it'll be a 2.x update, since it's free (right?) and for Sylenth1. It seems they also work on a successor "Sylenth2"... that's another story, but hopefully coming in 64bit right from the beginning

It will be a free update, yes...
Beta testing will start somewhere within the next month(s) and the update will be released when we're satisfied with all changes and with all new security measures. You'll see it soon enough, complaining about it doesn't change anything about it.

Homer’s Odyssey tells the story of how, during her husband’s long absence after the Trojan War, many chieftains of Ithaca and nearby islands become her suitors. To spare herself their importunities she insists that they wait until she has woven a shroud for Laertes, father of Odysseus. Every night for three years, until one of her maids reveals the secret, she unravels the piece that she has woven by day.

Obviously it will be released early (or late) within the current (or next few) year(s).TheoM wrote:Ok so realistically we are looking at a summer release?Ruben(LD) wrote:It will be a free update, yes...

Funny thinking back to when OSX 64bit was suggested it might be done before the end of 2013 (after all the trance guys took to twitter to complain and try to start a kickstarter campaign to lure Lennard back to development).

Well it might seem a surprise to some, but LennarDigital is just a small operation and most of the development and coding is done by Lennard himself. (He wrote Sylenth1 all by himself)
I can assure you we're working our ass of to provide you, our customers (and most probably all ungrateful leechers) with a free update. Writing Sylenth1 has taken years, and now rewriting it completely (in Win/OSX &VST/AU/AAX) in a new surrounding, and improving sound quality and layout...takes time. We had anticipated on finishing the release in the past few months, but that didn't work out.
*The Kickstarter initiative done by Armin van Buuren was actually quite the compliment

By "ungrateful leechers" are you talking about Avicii and Martin Garrix? Did they ever buy a copy of Sylenth?
Maybe the crappy copy protection was one of the things that help Sylenth become so ubiquitous, along with good sound and ease of use. Hopefully copy protection gets beefed up with the new version.

I think everyone's expectations about the time it takes to accomplish this feat is due to the fact that he coded Sylenth1 all by himself. It's not because we think he's limited in talent or ability.
When you see such a talented programmer insist development has never stopped over the years, and suggests he may have something out before the end of 2013, and now in 2015 we are still without anything tangible to back up these claims other than a constant and consistent push back of the deadline it certainly makes people wonder. Couple that with his ghost-like presence on the forums, and you're smack dab where we are now
It just begs the question, if development was never stopped, source code not lost (rumours), how could this take so long when windows had 64bit in 2008? You mentioned Apple has decided to drop GUI support for whatever Lennard used to create Sylenth1 (when? 2008? or just recently?), but surely that was not a surprise decision out of the blue and any developers who would have been affected by this should have seen it coming and prepared?
I don't know the ins and outs, but all and all seems like a lot of opportunities and time for a 64bit version to be built or even an entire new app to be completed in the time since windows got a 64bit vst. (2008-2015 is a lot of years since major update, not including bug fixes).
Wish him the best, but I don't know that people complaining about a product not being updated is something to be proud of. Sure it's nice to know they use it and want to continue, but it shouldn't have taken a high profile artist like that to push Lennard into action. Customers are one in the same. Pretty sad actually.
