Ok..It's ready.
A brief explanation is in order. First, I have not made any significant modifications to this synth's construction in any way that could be viewed as an improvement. I have slightly modified the GUI in a way that makes it easier for me personally to use, and everything else that's been altered is through ADDITIONS only, NOT alterations, cause I can't find my head from my ass when looking at this thing's guts.. That said, here's the mod list: * The volume graphic has been replaced by a conventional knob controller for the purpose of permitting midi-learn/automation. Keep in mind due to the high transient nature of the synth, you can reach clip levels easily and not know it till you go *splat*. I considered adding a limiter, but you're all grown ups, so try to not place the level controller past a 3:00 position if you know what's good for you. * The ASDR now has a background-visible indication of where each parameter sits(this drove me nuts in it's original form). * A Low-Cut has been added post-Level due to the fact that when incorrectly/randomly programmed, the bottom end on Gaugear can be a bit overwhelming. * The exotic level meters have also been added(I forget who's they are, but vurt knows the instrument and I'll get this corrected ASAP. * Color alteration in the GUI is solely for bringing for GUI elements that to me were obscurred by the off-white original background, but you're free to change this to whatever you want. * A randomizer function with amount control has been included for ALL non-designated parameters, including the new randomizer/note generator section. I suggest using values between .1 and .33 as those are my two Magic Randomizing Numbers.. __________________________________ And now for the interesting part.. Gaugear employs extensive use of Reaktor's mouseboard module. I don't grok this thing very much at this point, but it's a real bitch when you want to automate something that's controlled by one of these modules. Lazyfish was kind enough to place two controllers in view B of this synth that permit you to assign this morph board in a manner most of you are familiar with. I chose instead to employ a semi-algorithmic macro commonly used and developed by our own rachMiel to 'drive' the X/Y parameters. You have control over the following: * Power - For each respective axis, and one main one that deactivets both, killing all randomizing functions and it's CPU burden. * Min Value - This sets the lowest value that can be obtained by the randomizer algo, hence, it sets the lowest value an assigned parameter will reach * Max Value - Ditto for Min, but sets the max instead. * Speed - Sets the randomizing algo's over-all speed, which dictates how swiftly parameter changing will occur. * Random - Determines the actual degree of randomness for the algo. * Minimum Smoothness - Sets the lower threshold for random events produced by the alog. Think of it as an event filter. * Max Smoothness - Same as Min, but sets the upper threshold. ________________________________ As you can see, calling such a decive a randomizer doesn't *quite* do it justice.. Now for the second major addition; a slightly modified version of rachMiel's meLodion. This is a semi-random note generator(single voice only, sorry..We were working on a 4 voice and then R5 hit and everyone got distracted). MeLodion gives you the following functionality: * Mode - Assign your scale. Currently, you have Chromatic, Major, Lydian, Dorian, Blues, Diminished, Whole-Tone, and Mystery(?). (If I can ever pin rachMiel down, I'll be getting him to add more scales when time permits..) * Key - Assign your fundamental pitch. The relationship between Mode and Key is a complex one, so please see the hover text in the ensemble itself. * Speed - Determines how often a note is generated * Length - Determines the length of generated note. * Pitch Center - Sets the value that acts as the center of gravity for all generated note pitches. * Pitch minimum - Sets the lowest possible pitch that will be generated * Pitch max - Same as min, but sets the highest. * Pitch range - Determines just how expansive your pitch raneg will be. * Amp Center - Sets the value that acts as the center of gravity for all generated note amplitudes. * Amp min- Sets the lowest possible amplitude that will be generated * Amp max - Same as min, but in sets the highest amplitude that can be generated. * Amp range - Determines the degree of variation in the generated note's amplitude. A lower setting will make almost all notes have the same, the highest will show extreme differences in amplitude/velocity. MeLodian is further enhanced by two dedicated semi-randomizing algos identical to the ones used in Gaugear's Morph section that are slaved to Speed and Length. ______________________________ All told, these additions make Gaugear a formiddable auto-ambient generating monster. I didn't make a fraction of these additions in what I used on my Cold EarthII track; this mod was made late last night from the ground up just for you guys..So you better like it or you can kiss my pucker.. Anyways, here's the file: [url=http://www.sickle666.com/eXT%20files/Gaugear/Gaugear_mo d.rar[/url] Any bugs or whatever, lemme know, please. And if anyone *cough*aMUSEd*cough* happens to make any banks, please let me know so I can include it. Keep in mind that the auto morphing is going to take even the existing patches into places you might recognize, so when demoing existing patches, you'll need to let it run a few bars to get a good feel for what's going to happen. I'm getting changes here spread nicely over a period of 10 minutes and more.. PERFECT for Dark Ambient material. I have not made any contributions to the patch bank, but I intend to make a new bank here shortly that I'll also upload for everyone. ____________________________________ Profuse thanks are in order to the following: Lazyfish for the f**king KILLER INSTRUMENT. RachMiel for being a constant fount of wisdom and patience even when I might not have deserved it. Ewistrand for every goddamned headache I've ever gotten since he used that shifty reverse psychology trick on me and got me started dicking around with Reaktor.. Thanks, Buddy..
And also for being as excellent a teacher as Rick. ENJOY FOLKS! ----

I forgot to mention that the meLodion section has an on/off so you can toggle between auto-note generation and use your own keys/midi sources. This also applies for the algos assigned to meLodion's Speed/Length functions. ----

There's no need for that; just turn off meLodion and you can play it like a regular synth. ----

I just realized that. I must have archived the wrong file..
Uploading now, gimme 5 minutes.. aMUSEd, you might wanna check this one out, as the one you PM'd me about is an unfinished version. Your snaps *should* still work, though. ----
