hi,
i bought Konkrete Drums and am absolutely pleased with it. i was just wondering, if Abstrakt Bass comes within the kontakt-player as well, or if it's just for kontakt. (if first) are there any plans to release it within kontakt-player. i think many people would appreciate this. thanx in advance |

Hi,
sorry, I didn't see this post for a long time! It doesn't come with Kontakt 2 player, although we may make such a library one day in the future. there are no immediate plans to do this, however. |

Please, don't lock your samples in a player!!! One nice thing with samplers is the possibility to do whatever I like with the samples, to move them between different folders and to make favorites and delete the ones I don't use and to keep my harddisc streamlined etc. It helps my workflow. I can't do that with samples locked in a separate player. It's a hassle to make a HD-reinstall with a lot of different sample players. Every new program installation also increases the risk to sooner or later screw up the registry. Separate players usually have challenge/response codes that make the sample collection totally useless as soon as the sound design company is out of business. Even if I've many times considered Nostalgia and Vapor I still avoid them as long as their samples are locked. Too much hassle and risk involved. |

My biggest issue with Kontakt Player based samplesets is how much of the cost is being paid to NI for using their player? I own Kontakt 2 and tend to avoid anything based around Kontakt Player as I always feel as if I am paying for something I don't want. I think all sample companies should make the libraries available without KP for a lower price (less whatever NI's license cost is, basically) for those who don't want/need it... |

some people own kontakt and are able to use Abstrakt Bass.
some people don't own Kontakt, but would like to USE/BUY Abstrakt Bass as well. so SC won't lose money, if Abstrakt would be released in KPlayer AS WELL - as natively in kontakt. actually the number of new customers would increase - because i (and i'm not the only one) won't buy Kontakt - just to use Abstrakt. so i won't buy abstract ... and i don't know if it would be such a big deal to offer alternately it in a player. best regards ---- G7 Octa Core / dynable naba-speakers / 5 inch magerbix sneet plugs |

Hi,
Yes, we're aware of these things, and of course you are right. However, we are not sure at this stage if the considerable extra cost that would have to be added to each product to cover the license of K2 Player is something we want to do, although, as i say, it is something we are looking into. of course, if people mail us or post here expressing an interest in K2 player libraries, that would make a big difference! |

won't buy Kontakt - just to use Abstrakt. so i won't buy abstract ... Ditto - and with regards to some of your other libraries too. But I also see the potential problem of NI's license for the player making the product prohibitively expensive. Would you ever consider bundling the samples in some other kind of custom player? I appreciate many like the raw "unlocked" samples to play with, but for me, I look for a usable GUI first and foremost - I'm not interested in editing samples or fiddling around with loading them into a third party program. Hi,
Yes, as i say this is one of the directions we are currently considering. I think it's fair to say that at some point in the future, our instruments will be packaged with their own software front end. It's just a question of how we get there! |

...if you're interested in some opinions - for me it is important to have the samples in a format that my sampler of choice is able to read. so I guess, I won't have to worry that you'd stop to support Kontakt someday. I don't like protected libraries either, because you'll always get into some situation in which you'll have to edit the samples and it's annyoing having to record the samples again, but I can understand that developers have to protect their work (and in the long term such a thing has never stopped me from rerecording or ripping one of my sample libraries). Another issue that's important to me is being available to edit loops in Recycle - and no matter how carefully a developer works (and I know that you guys deliever some outstanding quality) I will always find something, as I care a lot about sliced loops and I have my own way to treat loops. Right now I have bought the Zero-G Koncept and Funktion Refill and I even found some poorly sliced loops that need to be re-edited - so, considering loops, I'm always happy being able to edit things myself...
PS. I'll also do some beta-testing |
