You can download it here:
http://code.google.com/p/wormhole2/
(in the download tab at the top)
Edit: Oh, I missed you had actually linked there already
btw, what do you mean the VSTSDK is opensource?

It's not... it's closed source... you can't add it to an open source project...atariboy wrote:btw, what do you mean the VSTSDK is opensource?

OK
somebody has to jump on this. I have an old copy of wormhole that works OK for using VSTs on a PC when hosting the session itself on a mac running DP or Logic. It really does work but could be easier to configure. I would love to see this thing developed further.

Well, I downloaded the available sources then as instructed hit the contact page at Plasq for the extra files that are apparently needed, and haven't received any response...atariboy wrote:@dscro I hope someone jumps on it too. We don't want it to die.

Hey, yeah. sorry about that.blurk wrote:Well, I downloaded the available sources then as instructed hit the contact page at Plasq for the extra files that are apparently needed, and haven't received any response...
We are trying to find out from Steinberg the right procedures for releasing the parts that are not open source. that is... how do we know who has signed the VSTSDK agreement. We have no way to verify this currently.
If anyone has any ideas, let me know

I got no response when I sent them the signed agreements, so I can't even verify that for myself. How about releasing everything except the VST SDK source files / header files, as I did with my VSTHost open source version?atariboy wrote:We are trying to find out from Steinberg the right procedures for releasing the parts that are not open source. that is... how do we know who has signed the VSTSDK agreement. We should really start up a live Wormhole KVR concert someday you know.
The technology is definitely more mature than I thought it'd ever be.

@atariboy
First off, thanks for open sourcing this project. I remember the first time I found out about wormhole, it seemed like a dream come true, until I discovered it was out of production by merely a few days... gutted!
I have signed the VSTSDK agreement with Steinberg. Given that no-one who has not signed the agreement knows exactly what we receive (by download or email), would it be enough simply to forward details to you by email, eg a copy of the acceptance letter from Steinberg? Or is that just going to degenerate into a bunfight where one person gets the files then makes them public and all law and order breaks down...
Is it just the original SDK files that are covered, or are your own files which contain bits of VSTSDK usage covered by their agreement too, I cant remember? Obviously programmers dont need to get the actual VSTSDK from you because as legit signees of Steinberg's agreement we get the VSTSDK directly from them anyway.
One further issue beyond actually getting the files... If wormhole is open source but VSTSDK is not, then its going to be hard to distribute useful modifications to it. Would your own open source license allow future binaries of wormhole-based products to be distributed, either with or without non-VST bits of source code? If I wrote something useful I'd hate to have to say to the world "i've got this great wormhole thing but you cant actually have it yourself". Or maybe that'll be a fact of life...
I have moved to an intel Mac with Logic (UB) and Cubase SX3 (PPC), from a PC with just Cubase SX3. I still have some VST instrument plugins which I bought, for which I have both Windows and Mac PPC versions. But Logic cannot load VSTs at all, and anyway Logic is running in intel mode and my VSTs are PPC.
So there is a specific thing I want to do with wormhole. Maybe it is not feasible but if you have a minute or two to comment please then then that would be great, thanks...
I want to run a PPC VST instrument in the intel Logic, by doing the following:
* write a PPC VST plugin which will run in Cubase SX3 PPC version either on my intel mac under rosetta or on a PPC mac
* write an intel or UB audiounit plugin which will load into Logic on my intel mac
* allow the audiounit plugin to communicate with the VST plugin (MIDI one way, audio both ways)
I was thinking that I could reuse modules of code from wormhole to achieve at least the audio side of this, and look elsewhere for networked MIDI. Or even use wormhole exactly as-is, and configure my home-grown plugins as mini hosts themselves so they load wormhole for audio and do their own MIDI stuff.
Feasible? Deluded? Pie-in-the-sky?
Cheers
