Thanks for the feedback!

some replies:

brand name: will be NUSofting for all products.
daHornet UB: it should be released by Nomad Factory.
physical modelling percussions: it will be interesting and powerful for sure, but I'm a little worried for the customer expectations, I mean a sample from a real snare will always sound more realistic than my synth to the common ear.
generative harp: glad to hear that's interesting for you, there is still a lot of work to do though.

Something based on daHornet! I still love this amazing little synth. One of the best for Bass. Add a nice distortion + fancy automation possibilities (via a step sequencer???) and you have an amazing performance synth!

I would look at this instrument as a way of getting original, organic drum/percussion sounds than a way to emulate a perfect drum kit.

It's the little noises and resonances that percussion instruments make which would be great to emulate. I think this area hasn't been explored fully yet.

Me too Smile. About that hi hat example again: why I like it so much is that it's the first time I've heard a synth hi hat that really resambles a real one this much in terms of the way it progresses, resonates, etc. With some effects applied it would sound surprisingly real. But that's not necessarily what I'd use it for, it would be very nice to use it in new creative ways.

yep, the hi hat is the best mp3, but you hear the limitations in the other samples, <grin>,
anyway I will work more with this models next months and I see what I can improve

I would see a "physically modeled percussion builder" as something inspired by the physical properties of "real-world" instruments, not as an emulation of "real-world" instruments as such. you also had an fm module in the ak1 beta or whatever it was called a year or two ago.

IMO, a percussion builder with ~8 "slots", each of which could be populated by any of a number of different PM/FM/VA modules would be the ticket, but maybe less focussed that your idea of a true "physically modeled percussion builder" (and therefore less niche specific - a good or a bad thing depending...).

Yes.
I'm beggining to think that perhaps if the PM engine is well designed, it will surely get at the sounds produced by FM and VA, so maybe these are not needed. Having such wide pallete of sounds available from one well designed GUI would be very nice indeed, ie: from PM through to FM percussion and analog plinks and plonks...hmmm Very Happy

This is exactly what I meant earlier. Smile

However, I can see a new type of percussion VST. An alternative to all the percussion loop sample libraries. This would need to emulate lots of different world percussion instruments and would need to come with a well designed midi library of loops. I don't know if it's a viable project though...I suppose it's my little flight of fancy... Very Happy
