See the asHost web-page for more information ... Wink

Updated on 06 Jan 2008 to v1.2.6
See Version History for list of changes

asHost is a simple VST host, originally coded to test mGUI and other plugins, and minimize the use of the mouse, instead nearly every function can be executed using the PC keyboard.

Looking at the product page, it looks like this will tell you the CPU pull on each core if you have a dual core, correct?

If so, I believe that's a unique selling point.

The last 2 percentage values on the Status-Display displays the average Windows system CPU usage as being reported by Windows ...

The first 3 columns are of more importance though, especially column 3.
These 3 columns display the real MIDI/Audio-process time needed by the Host + all loaded Plugins.
The 3rd column will show when the highest real process time used. If this value ever shows a value above 100%, then you know there is a plugin which have caused a ASIO buffer stall, which in turn can cause a crackling noise ... Exclamation

Looks nice.

A new vst host is not something that comes out every day

Thumbs Up!

Presets management : I can see that you can export all presets of a bank as .fxp. Is there one chance that the reverse function could be implemented in the future, ie make a bank out of selected presets in a folder. (wich could make sense if a save .fxb option was currently available, wich I didn't see in the page of the site but maybe already exists ???)

Also I don't see the diffrence beetween "load a preset" and "load a preset + use filename" Embarassed

Such a function would be very cool (does exist in Minihost, but always give somehow strange results afaics)

Anyway all the best with your project Wink

That is already possible, use "Load Preset..." and multi-select the FXP-files you want to load ... Wink

Sometimes a FXP's internal preset-name has not been set correctly, by using "Load Preset + use FileName" the FXP's internal preset-name is ignored and the file-name is used as preset-name when loading FXP ...

I expect some more bugs will be found in the near future and don't want any buggy versions in the field for longer than 2 months ... Wink
There is a second reason which I will reveal in the near future ...

This looks excellent. I especially like the GUI PNG saving function.
I also like the ability to define multiple VST paths. Not every host does this.

Is the VST scanner supposed to scan the subdirectories of each defined VST path? I hope it does. I'm not getting this to work.

The VST scanner does scan all sub-folders, but you can only define ONE VST path at a time ... then click on "Scan VSTs" ... after the quick scanner is done, click on "Capture PNGs"
If asHost crashes during "Capture PNGs", restart asHost and click again on "Capture PNGs" --- most of the time asHost will just continue where it left off and mark the crashed plugin as "Invalid"
