How large is the library? The 30+GB size of the library for PRIZM is just too much for me really.

Not sure how big it will be, but we were going to keep it under or around 20GB from the start.

Is it a matter of hard drive space or download time?

Both, in a way. I certainly wouldn't even attempt to download that much data...by the time I had it all downloaded the boxed version would've already arrived. Laughing

But, also hard drive real estate....I'd rather see smaller, more focused libraries. I think your price for PRIZM is more than fair, and a good deal...however, to be realistic, I'd only use maybe a third of the material in it, if that. If there were a smaller, just 'horror' subset or something I'd be all over that.

Same with BRASStopia....I was more stoked about it in the summer, but it's taken so long to release I wound up using other things instead.

SCRAPtopia look quite promising as well, though I don't want to devote 20+ gigs of space to it, when I already have samples and libraries that might cover similar territory, or just use my own sound design skills as neeeded.

Its a great deal though for newer, less experienced guys who might need a large well-rounded library to get them going.

Vespers,

Just so you know, PRIZM's library is organized in 10 separate categories and you can download each one separately. So if you only want to use strings or brass or horror-related sounds, you can do that. Of course, you can download as much or as little as you wish. You still have access to the entire 30GB library at any time.

BRASStopia, unfortunately, had a setback with the trumpets and had to be re-recorded, hence the wait. We are now back on schedule and should be able to release soon.

i guess you are using the 24/32 bits format, right? why not offer a second option in 16 bits? that way you can compress it using what's william using and get an extra 40% to 50% reduction in size. so the 30 gig would translate into a 8 gig download, even less depending on the contents. i checked it out, and they are using winrar for the compressor, which seems to work great on wusikpack files. anyway, just an idea. ;-]
