I made a screen movie with the process visible. But can't upload it at the Tinypict web site. If I don't manage any more, I will try to send you the "reportage" directly. You will see by yourself what is the matter.

I would just like to point out that Miroslav is not going mad, and that I've had visual confirmation of this link being hijacked. No other users have reported this problem.

If you search for the problem via Google, it is a rare but not isolated incident with SpeedyShare, mentioned on a couple of forums other than KVR. Must be some kind of DNS cache poisoning somewhere.

Peace,
Andy.

This is the best file share site on the planet, bar none:

http://www.box.net/

No ads, no pop-ups, no redirects, and very useful tools provided as well.

Kind regards.

For me personally, yes, since I trust Microsoft about as far as I can spit into a gale. As a Mac user, I've had an iDisk for the past couple of years, but I'll still use box.net for forum-related downloads like this because it's quick, simple, and lightning fast.

Kind regards.

ok, here i go :

www.anak-krakatoa.net/~downl/Alchemy/Soundscapes.zip

1)- I'd like to say that, at the moment, i'm much more experienced in sample design that working with these resynthesis tools inside Alchemy,

2)- I'd say somehow "by default" they are all categorised as sounscapes, this though some of them are frankly untuned, unlike most of the others

3)- Those with a "1" are using a original sample "1a", "1b", etc.., are resynthesized variations of the original sample

4)- I still have to learn many of the Alchemy's stages of edition, but actually the result waveforms are in themselves complex enough IMO, that they probably aren't much needed at a certain degree

5)- From many years by now, i've made a sample library that i intend to convert to Alchemy, but it'll obviously take time, but i'd to have your feedback to see if it might fit your need for a some new collection of presets, mainly based on tuned and less tuned soundscapes as these early ones

6)- My primary experience in sampling could be perfectly converted to Alchemy because my focus was mainly on sample design on natural soundscape by itself, rather than multisampling, and its still an euphemism if i say the investigation of these resynthesis techniques would be just promising !

Please, Just PM me to give me your critique and advices, thanks in advance !

I've been playing around with the Granular element in Alchemy a bit more, working out how to get a wider range of manipulations. In particular, I've found ways to:
1. map grains to a pitch grid, such as a chord
2. achieve a sparse stream of grains, with gaps in between

The example below morphs between several different manipulations of one of the factory samples.

Audio example
Alchemy preset

A couple of explanatory notes on the preset:

1. Grid-based pitch shifting is achieved by modulating the source coarse-tune parameter with a fast random glide LFO shaped by a modmap. Since alchemy's granular engine responds to pitch modulations by generating each individual grain at a fixed pitch value, the grid effect is easily achieved. Note that pitch fluctuations in the source material are still superimposed on the grid pitches; no easy way to eliminate this. See Source C in the supplied preset, heard in the middle of the audio example.

2. Some granular engines offer controls for "grain size" and "grain rate", so if you set a small size and a slow rate, you get gaps in between the grains, which can be a nice effect. But Alchemy always generates a new grain as soon as the old one is finished. You can increase the density of the grain stream by setting "density" higher than 1, but you can't decrease it -- you never get gaps. However, you can approximate the effect quite nicely. Again the key is a modmapped LFO -- this time, the LFO is applied to the granular element volume parameter, and the map has a "full on" region and a "full off" region. The modulation depth is -100%, so the "full on" region silences some grains, while the "full off" region lets other grains through; this thins out the grain stream and produces the desired gaps. See Source D in the supplied preset, heard at the end of the audio example.

I apologise because i forgot that a few mp3 as examples in situation would have been useful
(many thanks to paulSC who reminds me the fact undirectly)...

...so here at first a polyrythmic experience, six instances of alchemy + odd rythmic signatures of Ultrabeat's drum parts :

...and them an ambient tune strictly created with 6 instances of alchemy and using exclusively some of these presets :
