Is there a way to switch MIDI filters when I change the current subsession? I'd like to change the behavior of a MIDI knob when I change subsessions. So in subsession 1 it controls a param in Synth1, and in subsession 2 the same knob controls a param in V-Station. I played around with MIDI filters a bit, and it looks like the filter settings for a given plugin are global. |

I haven't checked that, but maybe you can put the midi filter for the controller in the midi routing table. As far as I remember midi routings in the routing table can be activated on a per session basis. ---- Best regards, TiUser ...and keep on jamming... |

I'm pretty sure I tried that, and it wasn't possible to access VST parameters from the routing table. I'll check again tonight. |

Currently MIDI filters don't integrate with sub-sessions. Although it's a reasonable suggestion, I'm thinking for what you're trying to achieve, per-sub-session MIDI controller assignments would be simpler.
Leave it with me to think about a little more... |

I've put up an experimental build of Cantabile that allows MIDI controller assignments to be enabled/disabled on a per-subsession basis.
More info and download link here: http://www.cantabilesoftware.com/blog/article-183.html As always, feedback welcome... |

The new subsession-level MIDI assignment works great! One small usability nit: wouldn't it be clearer to just set the context to "subsession" instead of setting the context to "session" and having a separate checkbox for this? |

Great, thanks for letting me know. Quote: One small usability nit: wouldn't it be clearer to just set the context to "subsession" instead of setting the context to "session" and having a separate checkbox for this?
Actually, when I first coded it, that's exactly what I had. I changed it because I wanted to make it more obvious how the interaction with sub-sessions worked. By just having "Subsession" in the context list implied the whole assignment would only be saved for that sub-session. However its just the enabled state that's saved for the sub-session - I hope that adding the checkbox made that more apparent. |
