Wusikstation V5.8.4 Released. Both Demonstration and Full versions updated.

All V5 releases were updated with the integrated Groove Sequencer. Party!

If you already have V5.8.4 RC1, please, download it again, as we updated a few minor things in the installer before this date. (July 25th)

Just use your original V5 Download URL to reach the updated files or contact us via the support area of our site. You can also see a list of all your Downloads if you login at our Support/Login area.

The update file is named "Wusikstation_V584.exe" - no need to download anything else, just this file. Be sure you install it in the correct places. (VST and DATA files) Do a search for Wusikstation*.dll after you install to check you didn't end up with duplicated VST files.

Changes for V5.8.4

  • Added: new White-Skin by Cusis with a different layout.
  • Fixed: Unison code. (using the previous old code, but without the detune problems)
  • Fixed: Pitch-Bend was out of tune. Now is dead-on.
  • Fixed: crash when using the internal keyboard to play notes very fast.
  • Fixed: clicking sounds when playing stereo WAV files. (another problem found)
  • Fixed: loop problems with mono WAV files.
  • Fixed: SFZ file, path location in non windows format. (using '\' instead of '/')
  • Fixed: integrated sampler editor loop markers were no longer working. (due to a new Slicer mode that is under implementation)
  • Fixed: some parameters where changing the selected layer when it shouldn't be happening. (Arp/Voices)
  • Fixed: all popup message boxes / questions are now modal. (always on top)
  • Fixed: WusikPACK code. Added SFZ WAV Packing support. (before it would pack the SFZ file but not the WAV files) Also improved Packing/UnPacking Percentage Bars.
  • Fixed: loading very large SFZ files.
  • Fixed: when entering the G.Seq (G) page, it would blink the Patterns wrongly. Also when Playing by clicking in the layer selector again.
  • Fixed: the FX version would crash in certain hosts.
  • Updated: skin type 3 for the new white-skin. Now it shows Unison, FX-Edit-2 and FX-Edit2 only in the Layers editor. (O1, O2, O3, O4, W1, W2) A new FX-Edit1b and FX-Edit2b was introduced to be shown in the Master and FX-Editor. The Groove Sequencer will display 5 lanes, instead of 8 lanes.

When you run the installer, its going to ask if you want the new White-Skin by Cusis as the Default one. See below some screenshots.

Best Regards, WilliamK

YAY! I was excited about this skin. I love it. No offense to other designers of previous versions, but this one takes it up another notch and brings it into a more modern look. I think it will also help to bring in some new sales as well.

Congrats! Downloading now!

The new update keeps crashing Sonar 8.3.1 and Project 5 2.5.1, I'm using the new skin as the default. And I seem to have lost the the presets, I'll look more in to that later!!!!

Thanks, Juan

Sorry to report only now these (little) skin problems:

1) After installing the 5.8.4, the "default" skin uses button for oscillators 1-4 from white skin but all the rest of the GFX from blue skin - ugly mix - but this could be a remnant from beta installs

2) White skin has two typos in the config page:

- Set Defualts instead of Set Defaults
- Multitimberal instead of Multitimbral

Thanks,
Mario

Two things really annoying in the new skin:
1. LOTS of screen real estate waste in the top part, with the name. This looks VERY unprofessional. The max accepted would be as tall as the "edit" button that appears above W1 and W2 when they are selected, and this assuming that the location of that button is acceptable. Personally, I would go for some other option. Wasting of screen real estate was already pointed since the first pics appeared, but apparently neither the skin author nor the software author listened to this obvious flaw.
2. Am I the only one finding that dividing 16 in 5+5+5+1 is NOT RIGHT? How can it be that we could fit eight rows in the early layout in a smaller space, and now, with a larger space, they managed to only make it fit 5? Is it so difficult to make the squares smaller as to make space for eight rows? And if it is, wouldn't it be better to make FOUR rows of FOUR? How could it be that the authors accepted the solution there as manageable?
Wusik Station always suffered from bad default skins, and this isn't a good one yet, IMO. It wasn't my cup of tea since the beginning, but I could accept it, if it wasn't for these two really annoying details.

The Asseca Cream with Silver knobs and the special colour scheme is the one I use. Altough not completely satisfied, is the one that came closer to what I would think is a good skin.
Some Vera Kinter skins also please me very much. I remember a skin she showed a while ago, and that she mentioned was for a new soundset she was preparing which layout also pleased me very much (but not the colours). I almost bought it, but decided to wait for the full product, since usually Vera work also pleases me very much.
But if you want examples of other instruments, I can point you some skins I think are very well done, as well as lots of examples of faulty skins.
