Quote: Tim can you enlighten me on how you got that nice morphing lead line in your demo track. It is very cool.
Which demo? :-)Guess there are three of them plus all the morph demos. But in most of my lead work, I am simply playing the presets. It the Legato technique that brings out those lead sounds ( like I keep saying)Basically, you trigger a note, and keep on hitting other notes without retriggering ( if that makes sense)so you are playing smoothly across the keyboard. Hard to describe, but those lead sounds ( mono sounds) really come out and create interesting textures much different if you were just playing "normally". Anyone experience this with Cameleon? You have to try it! ( on any lead mono sound with portamento on) TimC ---- *TC* Camel Audio plugins (vst/au) Sound Design & Support AlgoMusic M42|M51| Tims Atari MIDI World |

Hi,

I think Beardedone means the morphing demos - where one sound evolves into another. Did you use the mod wheel? Or did you draw automation in, or what? Thanks Ben |

Exactly Ben.
I like the range of portamento settings, Now if I could play keyboards as well as I play guitar.... Gordon |

Thanks Ben well..all I did was do it with the mouse and recorded the audio in EnergyXt. So no fancy automation...sorry...! But now as I remember, I had a sequence running in Energy ( an arp pattern) and then did the morph by hand as it was playing.( and at the same time, recorded the audio) This is another method to try. OK I think this can be dome with the fruity Keyboard controller. Thanks Tim! You're an inspiration man! Cheers, Gordon |

OK using Brainspawn Forte Ensemble Cameleon responds cleanly to the mod wheel of my Evolution keyboard. In Sonar Cameleon will not respond directly to the MW! AFAIK It only is automatable by event editing envelopes I guess I will have to try a true native VST host like Tracktion. Damn it! |

I just spent several hours playing with FLStudio and C5000 I tried to automate the filter knobs but that created a lot of clicking sounds for me. I guess my 1Ghz laptop does not have enough power. Having a lot of fun with Cameleon but I'm also losing a lot of sleep. So many good synths to try lately!! |

Quote: I just spent several hours playing with FLStudio and C5000 . The morphing worked quite well. There are several controllers that you can use. One thing I did was to morph the sound using the Peak Controller so that the sound would morph according to volume. Use different formulas so that the the amplitude, harmonics and noise morph at a different speed. It takes some experimentation but you can eventually end up with something smooth (nothing like Virsyn Cube though). You then use the Fruity arp and delay effects that are hooked to each plugin to come up with some very interesting variations. Layer a couple of Cameleons together going through the same Peak Controller and they start to affect each other from the volume variations.

After see how smooth and direct it works in Forte a in Tracktion. Fruity is out of the run for recording Cameleon live play. I figured out Tracktion in less than two hours. That has to be a record for me with a new host. Afer I figured out what a filter is ... that is. It is almost as intuitive as Abelton Live! Cheers, Gordon |

I TOLD YOU SO ! Tracktion is so easy and solves all my config problems while still being flexable. There is a ver 2 coming out that will improve the MIDI features as well as lots of other stuff. I'm hooked. I was going to get a stand-alone Dig recorder because Cubase VST was not working for me audio-wise. With Tracktion, I no longer need to get a stand alone. I can play effects in real time with my guitar, and Cameleon works great in it. TimC ---- *TC* Camel Audio plugins (vst/au) Sound Design & Support AlgoMusic M42|M51| Tims Atari MIDI World |

Forgot to answer this Q A filter is simply THE PLUGINS! You just drag the filter icon to any track, and then choose your VST plugin! This also includes effects as well as the native plugins that come with Tracktion. You have to tell it where your VST Instrument folder is in the setup window however. Going OT here for this forum, but there is a Tracktion forum here at KVR in which the DEV responds to Q's. ---- *TC* Camel Audio plugins (vst/au) Sound Design & Support AlgoMusic M42|M51| Tims Atari MIDI World |

Tracktion and Forte sure blow Sonar and Fruity away as a host for Cameleon5000. Morphing is so cool!

OK! I asked about MW control over in Fruity Tech Support forum and was starightened. Using a midi out channel set to CC#1 and linked to the MW of my Keyboard put me in business. I can now smoothly morph when MorphHarmX is targeted by the ModWheel.
