Am I being stupid? Why can I not find a simple ADSR on Massive?
Or even the Envelopes for each oscillator? HELP PLEASE! |

I have. It talks about the Modulation Envelopes for each individual oscillator. But I can't find anything for a global ADSR... |

This synth is different than the rest. You need an envelope modulator to control the main amp adsr. Uauslly envelope 4 is already routed to the main amp by default |

Finally, something helpful.
So envelope 4 should function as kind of ADSR in conventional terms? |

yes, but it doesnt have to be envelope 4, it can be 1 or 2 or 3. In massive you can route anything to anything |

Oh cool. But the router scares me... :S. Thanks very much! |

Massive has a really intuitive routing interface, once you get the hang of it. You just drag around the number of the envelopes, lfo, stepper or whatever to the blank box below the parameter you want modulated. You'll then see the number of the envelope, lfo, etc. in that box. You drag it up to modulate that parameter in a positive fashion, or down in a negative fashion. The amount you drag is shown in a semi-circular fashion around the parameter knob. |

hi guys,
about massive envelops.. i am going crazy about the simple adsr envelope, because i see that there is an attack, a decay , a release but i dont manage to understand what the hell is that sustain section: loop and level? why aren't they always active, but they only get active when "loop" button is activated? but above all,...what does it mean? isn't there a normal sustain in the envelope in massive? |

The decay level is the equivalent of a normal sustain value. For a simple envelope, you don't use the sustain section at all but just the decay level tells how strong the envelope will sustain. The sustain section allows you to create periodic movement after the decay or throughout the sustain of the envelope. Keep in mind the sustain level is just the in between point you go to before returning to the decay level during this looping process. |

You can use any of the 4 available classic enveloppes to control the volume ( I thionk your concern was the volume ) of any of the 4 Oscillators, or just the global gain. When you initialize a patch to create a new instrument, EV 4 is routed to the volume by default. Therefore a lot of patches will use this configuration, provided that the sound designer didnt want to use different or additional EV, Lfos to control the output of oscillators. The loop utility will be active during the sustain stage. You can define the number of loops, and modulate the parameters of the loops with any available modulators, to create some more or less drastic morphing effects. The first time I saw Massive envelopes I said WTF too...but now I always try to find synths with that envelope system. I like the level knob for the main parameters, it's very useful and not every envelope generator has that. |

That "sustain" section tripped me up at first, too. Once you play with it for a while and experiment, though, you'll see just how powerful that added complexity can be when used in combination with other modulators. ---- VST SOUNDBANKS FOR SALE ---> http://xenossoundworks.com Z3ta+ & 2 Zebra Predator Massive Razor Sylenth ACE Blue Ultra Analog Scanned Synth Pro Drumaxx V-Station etc |
