I just got hit by an error in Cubase 5.1, when I tried to add an 'instrument track', that being the Acidrack synth.
It says it couldn't find the stereo out of acidrack, and that there's only 1 mono out available which doesn't work with the instrument track.
Does this mean Acidrack is mono?

It appears to me that there are multiple versions of this VSTI; including both mono and 6-voice polyphonic.

I just went and checked on this by downloading both 1.3 and 1.4, but don't see the poly version. Somehow, I downloaded a 6-voice polyphonic version, somewhere along the way; well, at least a .dll called 'acidrack 6-voice poly' or something like that.

They are ALL polyphonic, make sure the mono/legato lights are both OFF.

Don't know about the stereo/mono out...could be mono ?

Thanks for the clarification.

With the versions I'd assumed to be mono, it must have been like the elephant who is trained not to walk away, even though there is nothing stopping them.

Only on the version labelled 'poly' did I hit the button and find the poly setting.

Hmmm .. not so good Sad Sorry to hear folks having problems with Acidrack .... and yet, there are 3 tracks in which are done with 8 instances in Mulab, 10 instances in fruity, and 13 in Tracktion .... so there has to be a way around this beast's behaviour!

Well, its a challenge for sure! Confused

Well, for the record, I have 6 instances running, simultaneously playing kick, snare, hats, bass, melody and a 3 note pad in FL9 and the cpu is coming up to 54% ... so not bad really, and considering I was online at the time as well.

CPU performance was not a problem for me... I had 5 instances running and REAPER was reporting around ~13% CPU usage, but still the crashes occured (a blue screen usually is not related to a high CPU usage).

I tried to make a layered sound using both oscillators with 3 acidracks running, 2 poly, one mono, filters on all, I get overloaded Sad damn these netbooks

Yeah you're right bug80, the crashes are not necessarily to do with cpu load, but the cpu thing does appear to be an issue with some systems ... and at the moment there seems to be no pattern to how it will perform in these various setups .... Oh, a bit more info though, I'm using the old version on a single core .... as I've mentioned before, my PC specs are nothing to crow about, but somehow it just works Smile

abstractcats, cheers for the comments re. FNS4 ... As I suggested to Mac, it would be super if you could add a comment to the Flex-N-Stein release thread .... it would be good to keep the thread active, firstly from the point of view that I would like to have loads of folk try it out, and second, to creat a little bit of buzz in advance of OSC11 ( and find out in advance if there are any probs I need to sort out in time for the comp Smile )

... oh and the shock treatment went well ... no more dreams of standing on the edge of high buildings with no where else to go, whilst closely pursued by giant earwigs made of custard holding ghettoblasters loaded with Dr Hook albums Shit! Shit! HiHi
