i would like to make a cosolidated topic regarding live functions
with all the ideas\requests written in a very simple way my requests are 1- more options for the live markers (retrigger-loop-one shot etc etc ) 2- editable event list (before the rendering in a new arrangment). i imagine this event list as a special track with coloured boxes , each box correspond to a marker area... and they can be moved around... by right clicking on a box you can set various options like retriggering-looping and so on... 3- scene recall for controller map (like yamaha rs7000 ) - by pressing notes or keys you can vary a lot of parameters ... if possible with a morphing function inspired to the great middy morphy plugin! 1 A better way than the current way of creating markers
maybe a container of some kind or something , But imagine a bunch of markers set up for an entire live jam That is one hell of a long timeline Personally i would have seperated the live side from the markers entirely and just done live selections So you make a selection of items on the timeline and give that a live grouping assigning it to a key 2 Actual triggering rather than just changing the next played loop on the beat Say i create a marker at the start of a drum beat then another at the snare on the next key I can then do rolls and so on with just those two keys as long as the marker starts playing as soon as i hit the key, Not on the next measure 3 Sequencing of markers that can be triggered with a single key (OK this can be done now with the old XT inside XT inside XT trick but combined with no 2 above could be much better) There is plenty more but those are doable quickly NAS |

FR : a "marker" window view, just like the "sequencer", "mixer", "modular", where you could see (and modify/re-assign) each marker...
Maybe something like : marker number | trigger note | start point [time/bar] | end point [time/bar] | name |

sequencer arrangements should be triggerable too, like XT 1.4 live mode. these markers are more like the marker track from 1.4 with a few new features (and a few missing ones). |

+ 1, on FR and comment. I am sure this isn't finished yet, but I have to say that as far as live composition, jamming... this is...? Maybe that's not what it's for this time? FR: LGPT (piggy) has a very cool live mode feature, where a double trigger will start the selected marker on the next measure rather than the end of the marker. So, trigger once, and the marker finishes before moving on to the one just triggered. Trigger twice, and the one just triggered will start as soon as the current measure is over. I'm sorry if I have not described that very well... Ideally, there would be three "modes", immediate (in sync); end of current measure; end of current marker; FR: More than one marker playing at a time, from separate arrangements? with flexibility as far as when it could start. Or would that be too flexible...? Reason: currently if I want a synth part from one marker to play during the drums from another, I have to make a third marker (or 300th...) which has both the synth and the drums. Then I decide I want to jam with the pad from yet another part... well, again I have to take all these parts and copy them to yet another marker. PLEASE... if one of the people who is able to figure out XT2 (unlike me... i must be daft or something! --- this next one... not really a feature I guess. --- FR: a statement of intent regarding the live mode, so that I and others like me don't waste a lot of time (both mine and the developers') and forum space requesting features that have no hope of being implimented because they don't match the road-map. I am thinking maybe this live mode is not meant to be a live mode in the same way as the 1.4 version; ie, That the whole concept of what it is for, not just how it works, is different. It would be good to know if that is the case. Currently I have many ideas about things I would like to see, but it's just so different from what I was expecting (that's not necessarily a bad thing, I'm just pointing out that I might not "get" it Just an idea. |

i'm still forced to use xt1 for live performances
please jorgen do something... more options for live markers triggering should be sufficent! |

I still think XT1 is the best modular environment for live performances (but not limited to). Once again I want to point out that the loading function of projects via program changes was one of the best options in Energy. -PIKU- wrote: please jorgen do something... more options for live markers triggering should be sufficent!
A couple of days ago I had this thought: what if Jorgen is in some way limited by the agreement with Behringer? Otherwise I can't explain the lack of communication with users from him |

I'm in the mindset now that these kinds of features will never get into XT2 so why not just do us a 64bit compile of XT1.4 so we can carry on using it into the future please Jorgen

either way, a really usable live triggering mode will look like that of ableton live. however, it doesn't have to be a clone neccessarily, there is room for improvement while keeping the energy xt flavour.
there should be a different view from the normal sequencer view imho. if there's the easiest way, it certainly would be a dedicated marker view where you can access all markers / positions in the track, i.e. an event view condensed to markers only. doing this, you can easily scramble your arrangement by selecting and switching between pre-defined regions. after all, it is a question of playing clips simultaneously (as defined in the arrangement via markers) or separately (like in ableton live or in energy xt 1.4). |

[whiny mode = on]
As a user from the start, I would pay 75 bucks (american) 'upgrade fee' for a 64bit compatible XT1.41 with fixed multi-core. I would do that happily. There were things that I had been waiting for back then, the ability to set global mod-matrix for sampler programs; the multi-out and midi triggering from the mod view audio part comp duplicated into the track view audio comp, and envelope comps available on their own in the groove track; But all that stuff is of no consequence when compared to the thought of a final update of XT 1.41 - from Beta 1.41 to final 1.41 w/ 64bit and useable multi-core. Honestly I would start a poll so Jorgen et al could see just how much money they could make from two or three short days of shoring up the old code (as a novice programmer that is my best guesstimate, but I don't know his code - maybe it's really messy...) but I don't think it would make a difference. Here's hoping XT2 rises to something like it's full height at some point in the not too distant future, so that I can stop pining for what was the perfect DAW in nearly every single respect. (imho) [/whiny mode] |

I'm another person who's disappointed with the live mode as currently implemented.
It's a horrendously stiff solution and the inability to unlink timing of parts on different tracks without labouring over track mutes and variations along the timeline is chief among its faults. I hope it's not the final implementation though, and we will see more. The XT1.41 mode with improvements would surpass even Live's lauded jam potential, I reckon. |

This seems like madness! I've just got XT2 - and got used to using it, and setting it up. I much prefer the new interface, but I really can't use this live yet... I'm really struggling to get the versatility (without bending over backwards) out of this that I thought would be so readily available...
