We are happy to announce the release of a new version of our free audio plugins. This update includes official RTAS plugin format support for Pro Tools users. It also brings out of beta 64-bit support for DirectX and VST versions under Windows x64. We have also added 64-bit Audio Units support under Snow Leopard (for 64-bit Logic 9.1 users).
Many thanks to all beta testers who helped us improve the plugins! As a side note, the legacy Digital Peak Meter plugin is still available separately but has been removed from the bundle installer to streamline upgrades. Well, sometimes the "free" means a download that's free but after taking time to install and try the plug there's a bombardment of nag messages to buy. So, are these plugs totally $$$$$$$ freee? |

Yes, here it's 100% free of charge, free of any nag screen or limitation of any kind! |

I had the beta versions of the RTAS plugins and they all worked just fine. I am using the widening gain on many of my projects and tracks. Again, no problems whatsoever. I went and upgraded Pro Tools to 8.0.3 today, then to the customer support minor update 8.0.3cs. After the upgrades, the first time I opened a project that had the widening gain plugin, Pro Tools crashed. The error message said it was the blue cat audio gain plugin that was the cause of the crash. So I went ahead and grabbed the update to the free pack, so now I have the latest version of the free pack suite.
I rebooted the computer and Pro Tools at least loaded the project, but gave a warning saying it could not load the Blue Cat Audio Widening Gain because of insufficient resources. The project has the insert deactivated on all the channels it was on. I can not activate it because Pro Tools says there was a DAE error, and gives a number of 7400. Any ideas what is going on with this plugin? |

Hi,
the latest version of Pro Tools we have tested was 8.0.3. Given the number of issues reported with the cs1 upgrade on the Digidesign forum (duc.digidesign.com) - especially with plugins - you might want to revert back to 8.0.3. Anyway, we'll test our plugins with the upgrade to see if there is anything we can fix. In the meantime, do you mind removing the plugin from your plug-ins folder and check if Pro Tools works better? BTW what on which operating system are you running Pro Tools? Have you had the chance to save the crash log the first time you opened Pro Tools? |

I'm running on Windows Vista (service pack 2). I wasn't aware of the cs1 issues. You point out a very good habit I should adopt, which is checking the digidesign forums before I do anything with Pro Tools.
I was able to remove the plugin from my session once Pro Tools opened my project with the plugin inactivated. I unfortunately did not save the crash log. I'll check out the forums and also try and figure out how to revert back to 8.0.3 so I can go back to my project with the plugins working. Hopefully reverting is as easy as just running the 8.0.3 update installer again. Removing the widening gain from my project is not perferable since I have those tracks exactly the way I want them and had already created my final mixes. |

Hi,
just tried with the latest debug version of Pro Tools available (which is even newer than the cs1), and there are still many issues when reloading existing sessions. It seems to be problematic with any plugin (not only ours). In order to check if it's our plugin that causes the issue in your case, would you mind just uninstalling our plugin and try to load your sessions? It should not remove the plugin from your inserts but you will at least be able to see if it's our plugin that causes the problem. BTW have you tried to create a new session with cs1 using our plugin, save it and reload it? In our case it worked properly. Thank you for your time! |
