When you gain more life experience you will know what I mean - hopefully if that is one of the current life lessons that you have chosen. But I think the fact we are here now having this conversation suggests you probably have.

Lexicon PCM is of no interest to me cause it is far too expensive for me... so no, it is not the best reverb.

Aether also has this variance. And the more and more I use it the more and more I love Aether. It's a decent price too. I just wished that they had a steel plate model. The halls can come close, but there needs to be some sheet metal reverb oscillations Very Happy That would make Aether perfect.

Careful what you wish for... Early christmas?? Wink

Well, that and a more understandable interface. I still have no idea what the parameters actually mean or do. For instance, what the heck does the shape parameter represent? What about the size... is that in feet, meters, unicorn horn units? Aether could very well be the go-to reverb for me, if only I understood how to use the darned thing.

Unicorn Horn Units... damn, why didn't we think of that. Vocalist to engineer: "Dude dial me in 12.4 UHUs for pre-delay, and 11.3 for Size." Wink

Seriously though, did you see the final manual? It explains everything in great detail. Is anything still unclear?

(I guess your message was written before 1.5 also, so now we also display param units when in text-entry accessed via double click...)

Anyway, let us know if you need additional clarification on anything...

Laughing

(Does an emoticon exist for shooting drinkage through one's nose while laughing?)

And you only ask that of an engineer if you want to be punched square in the face. HiHi

(Or if the dude's stoned, in which case you will, no doubt, get EXACTLY what you asked... at least the engineer will think so... Wink)

I have altiverb 6 and the ikmutimedia's Classik Reverbs. Can't imagine it getting better than that.

There are some great reverbs out there but none of them glue to the sound like the Lexicon PCM Native, not even their new LXP Native. Try the demo, you'll hear the difference right away:

The one where I said (somewhere) that I wouldn't bother trying their plug-ins because AD doesn't provide demos, yet my curiosity got the better of me, and the addiction is starting to set in after I've acquired 914 and Fluid.

It's the bandwagon for anyone who's been in the same "predicament."

(I only regret that I didn't save a few $$$ when these were in the marketplace a little while ago -- then I could have MORE, NOW.)

I have my eye on Ronin next...

I'm on the AD bandwagon seated next to you. I just recently got Liquid. Next will be Tattoo. Mostly for the sequencer. Then Replicant, I think. Eos is a good one I say trying to stay on the reverb topic.

If we're talking about glueing the Mix with reverb, VSS3 from powercore is def in the same league as Lexicon PCM, just a different beast. Vss3 tail is just awesome. Lexicon PCM Native and VSS3 make a great combo, covers everything I like about reverbs. Happy dayz.

+1, my two favorites! Like you said, they're different beasts and I personally find the PCM Room to be better for becoming part of the sound, whereas VSS3 is better for creating space around the sound.

Is the Lexicon PCM Native Reverb Plug-In (or Plug-Ins if each Algo is viewed as its own Plug-In). Well it all depends on what one requires for each task where reverb is deployed. For Plate Reverbs the UAD EMT Plate is superb, for realism using Impulse Response/Convolution Reverb AudioEase's AltiVerb is superb as the library is constantly growing & for its library is highly regarded with good reason, for me the Reverb i use/reach for everytime is WizooVerb (no longer available which is crap as its great IMO). For pop/rock polished style mixes i can say that if you like that 'Lexicon' sound then yep it probably is the best reverb plug-in available. Vocalists love it and from a productive point of view i can see using a suitable algo from the PCM reverb aid getting great takes more instantly due to it having the sheen in the vocalist's headphone mix, then of course great at mixdown when weighed up against most outboard reverb units including Lexicon's own it is more convient to have in plug-in format and soundwise is as good if not better Shrug I like The Briscati M7 from the very limited time i got to use it, it just worked so well and smoothly. Sometimes a grotty and metallic reverb that sounds shit is just right for the job though and i have an Alesis MidiVerb which is great for older/early-mid 90's DM and definately Black Metal vocals. Then whack a drawmer 201 gate with it for toms and snare its good because it sounds shit (i realise this might sound backwards to some but still i works). I like the old and free Buzzroom RoomReverb plug-in alot and that gets lots of use. 'Character Reverbs' maybe a nicer way of reffering to unique crap sounding reverbs? Cheap thrills Wink

Some off topicness now and then is healthy i reckon Smile

Replicant is awesome in my honest humble opinion, Kobinat also is great. For mangling with control and on pretty much anything Replicant = Thumbs Up! (the only time mangling plug-ins i like are 'Effectrix' by Sugar-Bytes which is more money and very different to Replicant, White Noise Audio Software's 'Memory' which is alot more hit and miss almost like an instrument in itself to control in realtime but its free, Old ConcreteFX freeware also has some gems and then a few pluggo's whose names i forget)

One more positive voice for Aether here. I'd recommend trying it (and yes, reading the manual, or at least some parts of it, given it's quite long!). We reviewed it a few weeks ago on ANR and found it brilliant.

It's a great time for algo reverbs, that's for sure Smile

The review is here, if you'd like to have a look:
