edit - Winner announced:

We've just sent out the feedback for all entries to the Alchemy preset competition. Thanks again to everyone who took the time to enter, the sounds have been truly inspiring to play, making this a very close call. Everyone who entered is showing a lot of promise, and we want to encourage all of you to continue creating new sounds for Alchemy - particularly those of you trying to take Alchemy in new directions.

Before we announce the grand prize winner, there are a few sound designer who really stand out and made the final decision very difficult:

Gareth L Devlin for his consistently cool urban dance sounds, Birds Use Stars for innovative and unique sounds, and Ed Ten Eyck for such a wonderful attention to detail.

But for overall consistency and the sounds with the most polish we could not look past Corin Neff and Voices of the Void. Incredible sounds that will sit well with any composition.

Congratulations Corin, we'll be in touch soon with your prize!

The competition is now closed. Thanks to everyone who has entered, we'll be judging your presets soon and will provide feedback to all contestants.

We want to hear your Alchemy presets! New sound design talent is always welcome at Camel Audio, and we want to encourage the undiscovered sound designers to make themselves known. Anyone who thinks they've got what it takes to create amazing new sounds is eligible to enter the competition - you can even enter the competition using the 3-week free trial.

Create a bank of 10 of your best presets and ensure they adhere to the sound design guidelines, and upload them to the user library. Please pay particular attention to ensuring that if you choose to include any samples, they must have been created by yourself without using any copyright material. Entries must be in by 31st August 2010 at the very latest.

Anyone sending in presets which meet our high standards will receive payment at our usual rate of $30 for each preset (or $60 worth of Camel Audio software) and the winning entry will receive guaranteed payment for all 10 presets ($300 or $600 worth of software).

We will only accept submissions with exactly 10 presets, we will not accept multiple submissions and we will reject any submissions which do not meet our guidelines. Sound designers who have created a signature Sound Library (biomechanoid, Luftrum, Junkie XL...) are not eligible to enter. Winners must sign a sound design agreement clarifying that no copyright material has been used in the creation of the sounds, and assigning the right to distribute the presets to Camel Audio. Presets selected may at Camel Audios digression be included in the factory sounds for Alchemy or other Sound Libraries.

Check out the sound design tutorial videos (or the ones on YouTube if you don't own Alchemy). Also, take a look at the manual, and if that doesn't answer your question swap tips and tricks here on the support forum.

Good luck!

Hi, Ben!

It's really good contest! Love
I have question. My Alchemy registered for my real name. Whether I can use a nickname/tm/pseudonim/etc for 'preset author' field?

Glad you like the competition Smile Yes - you can change the sound design author - just open the preset files in a text editor and change the Author field to your desired sound design name.

Hi Totolitoto,

Yes you can use the demo version as all presets created will work with in full version of Alchemy. You can download it here:

http://www.camelaudio.com/demos.php

The demo is fully functional for three non-consecutive weeks and contains around 350 MB of samples from the Factory library - plus of course you could create your own as long as you observe copyright. Don't forget to grab the RAR file with the demo installer, as it contains the demo presets and samples.

Peace,
Andy.

This is great.
I have some extra time to spend on Alchemy now, so I'll give it a go.
Definitely need to read the manual on this, as things feel pretty complex from the start, but that's a good thing to me.
