Hello,
I tried Phenome some time ago, I loved the interface, looked promising, was exactly the kind of product I am looking for. But I loaded one or two soundfonts, and the playback was not good at all compared to sfz free, so I decided to wait a little... now is v1.7 of the "best free SF2 player"... Total fail for me I tried to load a soundfont I found last week, and that I love, simply called "Splendid 256", a nice piano, 256Meg. The sound is really funny, like a honky tonk, because it plays several notes at the same time, and in the upper range, it plays a very very low note + high pitched one. Totally wrong So I tried the small version, Splendid 72, now the notes are correct, but I don't know how to set the "velo" and other parameters to get the intended sound, that I naturally get in any other soundfont player... So I am back, once again to my good ol' free sfz... |

Perhaps devoting a bit of attention to beefing up the configuration management, so that paths to presets and soundfonts could be set in the same way most DAWs manage plugin locations. Making the file navigation window collapseable would be a plus.
You mean when using several instances? One single instance doesn't bounce back to the root SWTrex wrote: A great and useful feature (to me) would be to be able to drag and drop a soundfont file from the Windows explorer onto the GUI to load it. (Not sure if this is possible with Synthedit VST's, though).
SWTrex This would be a fair amount of work, can't do this from the internal browser currently, but from windows explorer might work. Will take time though! Thanks for the suggestion. SWTrex wrote: Playing around some more with Phenome, I discovered what must be a bug: a loaded soundfont will respond to a pitch bend signal regardless of which midi channel the pitch bend was sent on.
Certainly the intent is that it should respond only to a pitch bend signal coming in on the assigned channel. SWTrex Oh, will investigate Not sure about the delaytaps? It's kind of a L/R cross delay, first "tap" always starts on the left channel so to say... |

Hard to check what could cause this |

I dont want to alarm anyone, but comodo shouted virus when i started reaper after i had just dropped it in my vst folder. I know AV software jumps the guns easily but at the same time, websites can get hacked.
I scanned the dll and it said nothing about any virus so it's probably just a false positive. Ill wait for a reply from author before running it again though .. looks like an awesome piece of software! Finally i might get some serious use for all those x-lead and the other, about 10, emu sf2's i bought so long ago ---- Mulab-MUX-Diversion-TX16Wx-SKNOTE-Charlatan-Valhalla-GordonSmith-YamahaTHR10-Trackspacer-TheDrop/Glue-Drumaxx-VOS-DC8C [i5 2500K @ 4,3GHz] [8Gb DDR3] [200Gb+ SSD][M-Audio Delta 24/96 PCI] |

I added it to the Avira exceptions list and carried on. ---- "Sometimes I think of Abraham... How one star he saw had been lit for me" |

Hard to check what could cause this oh, yes, it seems that the original source (akai ftp) is not available, but it can be found on numerous repository sites, I know they all look illegal, but I know this soundfont is legal, so don't hesitate. I think I took mine from here, just a few days ago: http://hotfile.com/dl/92985299/89f4f42/Sound_Creations_Splen did_Grand_SoundFont.rar.html The behavior is really wierd. But I still have the "velocity" problem with any of my soundfonts... I would like to be able to have the exact same sound that I get with any other basic sf2 player... but here, I first have to try to find the right "velocity" setting, but it does not sound right. Too bad because the rest seems good, but the basic feature, that is, play the original sf2 plain, dry, as it was intended, is not there ... maybe in 1.8 ? |

For "full dynamics" turn the volumeknob all the way to the right! Phenome supports full velocity layering. So i'm not quite sure about this "velocity-problem"? |

About the possible virus detection .. i decided to ignore it and send a false positive to comodo .. plugin works fine ---- Mulab-MUX-Diversion-TX16Wx-SKNOTE-Charlatan-Valhalla-GordonSmith-YamahaTHR10-Trackspacer-TheDrop/Glue-Drumaxx-VOS-DC8C [i5 2500K @ 4,3GHz] [8Gb DDR3] [200Gb+ SSD][M-Audio Delta 24/96 PCI] |

I think I tried that, but the sound is different from sfz for example, at least with the few soundfonts I tried. Concerning the very wierd sound with the famous Splendid 256Mb... I just tried the new SF2 player by DSK... and ... exactly the same problem... I am starting to believe that maybe you are both using SynthEdit, with the same integrated sf2 engine ? |

Multiple instances are very buggy in Live. Often when I load a song with two instances of Phenome only one of them will make sound. Then when closing Live or changing song Live will crash. |

With a multi-channel / multi-timbral plug, why have more than one instance? (Doesn't answer your question, but you may have an avoidable situation). ---- "Sometimes I think of Abraham... How one star he saw had been lit for me" |
