Roland TTS-1 GM module: usable outside Cakewalk Music Creator?

I would like a decent sounding GM module which I can use with my DAW (Acid Pro 7, whose GM module is pretty lame).

I noticed that Cakewalk Music Creator 6 has the Roland TTS-1, which if I understand correctly works as a GM module among other things. MC6 is cheap enough that it would be worth it to me to get it just to be able to access the TTS-1 within Acid (which accepts DXis like the TTS).

I would not use MC6 itself (I'm sure it's good, but all my projects going back many years are in Acid...)

Therefore I'd ask anyone who's used MC6 the following:
-- as a GM module, does the TTS-1 sound good?
-- is it indeed accessible by another DAW?
-- MC6 requires 10 gb -- more than I'd care to allocate, truth be told. How much of that consist of things I could get rid of (loops etc)?

To me TTS-1 have some nice sounds like drums, and maybe acoustic guitars but synth sounds are much poorer than for example Yamaha Cs1x XG sounds. also some how i prefer many other ways Yamaha set what i say. But both have own and bad points. and these are only gm/xg sets what i remember even i still have some in Roland JUno-G and Alesis S4+. but nothing in quality i think when i compare these others.

ps. i dont know about MC6.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately none of the virtual XG modules seem to be available any more :-(

Actualy, I don't care that much about the TTS-1's synth patches -- I have more than enough synth VSTis for that. I'm more instrestred in some of the acoustic instrument patches. How are those, in your opinion?

Drums are nice, acoustic guitars are accetable. but not best, only thing what i think i thinked use is think drums i think and sound quality i think almost sure is bit better than cheapest GM hardeware modules. but somehow if GM is not must there are better choices for common acoustic sounds. Maybe price is higher but quality also. and i think i heared some tune with tts-1 wghich sounds nice these patches maybe need more talent than better patches...

TTS-1 is also included in Sonar, which I use, but if you're interested in acoustic instrument patches, especially acoustic guitars, then I highly recommend the IK Multimedia Xpantion Tank 2 Acoustic Guitar Collection 2 expansion pack, which comes with SampleTank XT. It's normally about $50 but it's only $15 until Aug 29 and you also get one (or two, soon) free product.

IKMultimedia.... the company I hate to love... their sound designers are fantastic; can't say I'm too crazy about the rest... but I have ST XT and a few expansion packs and am very impressed, and that's a great deal. Thanks for the tip!
