How to create .nkx files (Kontakt Library)?

How to do this, that and the other. Share, learn, teach. How did X do that? How can I sound like Y?

I have converted some of my sound libraries using Extreme Sample Converter into .nki files. It's quite cumbersome since there are quite alot .nki files.

I would like now to create an .nkx file to browse all instruments/multis (.nki) sorted into categories directly in kontakt as a library.

What tools do I need to create .nkx files that can be loaded into kontakt?

Perhaps you need Kontakt3 for this... or just use the "Combine Kontakt Instruments" function from ChickenSys Translator and convert your instruments into .nkm-files but they are no grouped then.

there is no official way to do this. There is a registry hack to do it if you are on windows, but I don't know how to do it. The libraries tab is for licensed kontakt libraries only.

I looked up the registry hack, it's not really what I want since I'm afraid it won't be supported in future versions. That sucks! It would be nice to sort my own libraries and create a cover for it instead of this file browsing madness.

if you drag other nki files into the directory structure of an existing library that is available in the libraries tab. the extra nkis will show up there. i have most of my samples in the kontakt 4 tab.
