Way back when I was a little kid, my Dad had a Bert Jansch album with Run Rabbit Run and Needle of Death on it, and its its some of the earliest music I can remember asking to be put on...

Ashamed to say it's only been the last few years I've began to appreciate some of the stuff coming out of that scene/time, Basket of Light is probably my favourite.

He's one of my favourite musicians and I'm not sure people appreciate how influential he was on the development of modern music

I think you are inadvertently echoing the sentiments of Johnny Marr:aMUSEd wrote:He's one of my favourite musicians and I'm not sure people appreciate how influential he was on the development of modern music
"He completely re-invented guitar playing and set a standard that is still unequalled today...without Bert Jansch, rock music as it developed in the '60s and '70s would have been very different. You hear him in Nick Drake, Pete Townshend, Donovan, The Beatles, Jimmy Page and Neil Young. There are people playing guitar who don't even realise they've been influenced by him one step removed" - Johnny Marr
I think I might have been one of those people...

no problem. regretfully, i only just discovered Mazzy Star (predictably, courtesy of the GoW3 trailer...) HS's voice reminds me of Tanya Donnelly's, which can only ever be a good thing.codec_spurt wrote:Sorry to hijack the thread rab.
