This sounds very promising, particularly the stuff about regions and selections (thank you, Ozpeter Thumbs Up!).

Couldn't get it to work, though Sad Same story other people have reported: installs OK, opens OK, bails (painlessly) after a few seconds* Shrug XP SP2

One to watch, mind. I use Audacity and Wavosaur, which have different strengths and weaknesses; this could be a worthy alternative (or even a replacement for both). Here's hoping development continues.

@Ocenaudio: thank you for your efforts so far; keep up the good work, please!

EDIT: *Crash report submitted via ocenaudio web site.

To be honest, I wouldn't know what to use this for. What exactly does it do that Audacity can't?

Well, it has a spectal editor which I often need. Also, for some reason I never felt comfortable using Audacity. I don't like it's looks and I can't get used to it's workflow and tools usage.

Now, regarding the ocenaudio editor, I did have problems with VST plugins. First I found out it didn't like The Sound Guy's ReSpatializer. I removed it from the VSTplugins folder but the editor kept crashing with no clue on what was wrong. Finally, I renamed the whole VSTplugins folder so now that the editor couldn't find any VST plugins it worked fine. I'm on WinXP 32 SP3.

I also missed a parametric EQ. And I didn't manage to zoom in/out vertically in the spectral view. Plus, only half of the Add Random Noise window is displayed.

Other than that I like where it's going though. I'd like to see it stable and out of beta.

No, it hasn't. It has a spectral display. That's quite a difference from a spectral editor.

May I ask for what exactly?

You can edit the file when using the spectral view. That's enough of an editor for me.

Locating and fixing noises mostly. Of course it still can't beat Magix's Audio Cleaning Lab (the editor I use for such stuff) because it can't work on a specific frequency range yet but who knows, maybe it can be implemented later.

Hello everyone,

A new version of ocenaudio is now available. Download for free in http://www.ocenaudio.com.br.
New features include CAF files support, better VST plugins managing and improved stability.

By the way, thank you Ozpeter for writing about some ocenaudio "hidden" features.

And thanks everyone for using ocenaudio.

The VST plugin management is located in ocenaudio preferences.
On Windows: edit > preferences
On Mac OSX: ocenaudio > preferences

No I mean for there to be a vst plugin version of the app - we really need a decent plugin audio recorder and editor, especially one that works in 64 bit too

I tried the new version, same problems with VST plugins here. When the program begins it starts scanning the VSTplugins folder, it eats more and more RAM and then it crashes.

Great update! The only issue I had, a thread using all available CPU for nothing, is gone, and VST is now user configurable!! (using it on Windows ME + KernelEx btw).

I was wondering if the hidden feature of two versions ago allowing to use vsts from a subfolder of the application could be reenabled as this was ideal for portability.

Cheers.

you gotta be kidding me Laughing

big ups ocenaudio team, i already spreaded the word about your app here and there as its totally worth it.
merely a beta version yet it already made audacity and wavosaur obsolete Wink

+1 for portability.

Does it support relative paths (e.g. for plugins & samples, for saving files...)?

(D/l'ed the new version last night. Haven't tried it yet. Will check it out tonight...)

The new version installs to a new location - ensure you are not running the old version (though the installer seems to remove that anyway).

The VST search path setup defaults to all unticked so there should be no problem with first run. It includes an unticked entry for using VSTs in the program folder "plugins\vst" location.

I tried opening a multichannel (4 channels) wave file and it does open with all four channels of waveform visible. But it only replays if I highlight one channel, which it plays on its own.

It would be useful if it would replay all channels at once, and if it could split to mono files from multichannel in the same way as it does for stereo - and for that matter if it could do the reverse, if possible.
