I actually like the squares.
It's kinda cool pic, fair effort-did u draw it?
It needs more stylisation and smaller though IMO.
I would go with just the squares if ya wanna,
they look cool.
You could write 'attack', instead of fighter,
as it has musical connotation,
I don't really like the font, and you could gell it more by using the same colour pallette on all elements(the three elements look dijointed).
If you want, I can have a go at modding your art.
Just PM the images/.psd.

Now how to make this into GUI?

It actually looks better if u squash it vertically more with transform.
