Hm, and you're right again. Slate Drums, Slate Digital, Slate this-and-that ... kind of hard to keep them apart. I think its meant to be confusing. Heres the reply when asking if they accept transfers: We do allow that. Please send a screenshot of your ilok account to confirm the plugin is there. There is a $30 transfer fee. Please send $30 through paypal. Here's the address: ****stevenslate.com Please send me a confirmation that it's been paid. Once this fee is paid, we will get you a new passcode to download the plugin. You can then give the new code to whomever is purchasing the license for you. That says nothing about the ilok transfer fee. So i messaged back asking about that. Our fee simply covers our cost, the iLok fee is additional. Best, You definitely have to study and dig to find out policies about them. It wasnt listed in their question base.So i thought i would save someone the headache before they got the wrong idea. They do make good products but the upgrades, transfers and policies are way too confusing for my taste. When did ilok start charging companies $30 as well as customers? |

Nah, that "simply covers our cost" shouldn't be related to iLok.
It's more of a "we're missing a sale because of you, plus some intern has to move your license from one account to another account by a couple of clicks, AAAND we have to answer emails for you" fee. ---- TINY METAL IMPACT - UPDATE Mar 1st '13 - available for Kontakt 4.2+ I guess one could call lead poisoning an ironic death. |

I won't have anything to do anymore with all this licensing -- unless it's extremely easy and 100% glitch-free -- and won't go anywhere near this dongle nonsense. I reached my boiling point over an issue with Steinberg when, one day about to begin a very important live band recording session, my Cubase, which had worked flawlessly ever since my original screaming fit with Steinberg when the initial licensing refused to "take," suddenly reported the license couldn't be found and some other line of gibberish. Nothing at all had been changed on my computer, nothing. That was the last straw and ended forever my relationship with Steinberg. Certain other companies, such as IK Multimedia, can be a nuisance, too.
I realize refusal to play along with companies that can make the licensing game difficult can be a little limiting at times, but I assure you I'm doing just fine without these clowns. Recording is too time-consuming and issue-sensitive in the first place. I will no longer allow ANY company to waste more than perhaps 10 minutes of my time with its needs. These idiots have forgotten who the customer is. Their behavior is much like these huge chain retailers that treat customers like dirt because they think they have an endless supply of them. Ha! Just tell that last comment to Best Buy, Sears, Barnes & Noble, Borders and a few others. Dead, dying and entirely deserving of it. Now, you can act like stupid sheep and be herded along by these goons, or you can put your foot down and demand your rights of better treatment. Either a company makes any licensing super easy and no breakdowns, and makes customer service a real priority, or I quit them cold, often after good research and before I've paid a cent. THEN they get endless bad press from people like me. You can try to waste my time, but you sure are going to pay for it. Thems the rules, sucka! It's really time they wised up. Things need to change. Check it out: all the licensing hassles with Steinberg (tons of complaints on the forums!), yet there are still 10,000 working cracked versions floating around the Net. In the end, they only harrass the honest customers . . . and waste our time. |

I recently sold my CB2.
When I asked via eMail, KH answered the following: Quote: You can pass them along, but the receiving party needs to be aware that no tech support will be provided to them.
"No tech support" also means that there will be no downloads for the buyer, so make sure you have all the installers and data to pass on. ---- TINY METAL IMPACT - UPDATE Mar 1st '13 - available for Kontakt 4.2+ I guess one could call lead poisoning an ironic death. |

IIRC you can transfer license on RGC plug-ins IF they were bought before Cakewalk bought them. You'll have to jump through Share-it's hoops, and you can't have upgraded / updated to Cakewalk versions. |

So, according to this thread Korg products are not transferable. That's totally weird cause like ttoz says I've seen Korg products sold here dozens of times. Were all these transfers illegal??? |

I noticed OP had a way high figure and there was a 2007 post on the previous page to correct this, but as of today our transfer fee was further reduced so if any of those posts could be corrected it would be great. http://www.ikmultimedia.com/shop/?start=0&cat2=tokens |

Just had confirmation from Propellerheads that the RE format plugins are not resaleable and cannot be transferred with an account/ license sale of the Reason software. |

Perhaps it is interesting for musicians in the EU and anyone buying software from sellers in EU countries) to know that the Court of Justice of the European Union just ruled that it can be against the law for companies to prohibit the re-selling of software bought online.
You can find statements like this in the decision: "Downloading a copy of a computer program is pointless if the copy cannot be used by its possessor." I do not find this decisions surprising, there were similar dicisions before (also by U.S. courts). Nonetheless, this remains a complex legal matter - but it may be useful to know that buyers also have certain rights after paying for software. |

I just read "nomad factory's" list and looks to be a no-go?
http://www.nomadfactory.com/license/index.html Quote: You may not transfer, modify, rent, lease, loan, resell, distribute, network, electronically transmit or merge the SOFTWARE.
Seems pretty straight forward |
