Just wanted to say that Reason 6/Record is the only DAW of some kind that i can use as a live looper! Surprised Almost live at least. (not that i have many Daws). It's easy to pick the best parts you've recorded. If you wanted you could use it as a real looper of course, but i like a little editing to get the best recording.

And kmonkey, as one who frequently browses the kvr database to see if there's anything i have missed for use in my VST host, i have a hard time find something similar to those three plugins in reason 6.
I really don't get your agitation. All plugins have their strengths. Even if there is 255 distortions that doesnt mean that all or any will work for you, does it? Im not sure if it's even worth discussing this with you. Not sure if it ever could lead to something good.

You do realize that it's only you thinking that you are getting something unique in Pulverizer? You do realize that Pulverizer is in a nutshell chain of ...what..wait i am visiting their website...oh it's distortion, compression, modulation and what...ummm let me see...option to use all that in..parallel processing :? First thing first you have to be blind to not see army of compressors and distortion effects in KVR base. Literally all i mean ALL of them can be modulated from within any HOST. In every imaginable way you can think off. Parallel processing..i think noone don't even announce it as "ground breaking option" since you can do even that from within host. Obviously you can stack each after each, reorder as you like this is stupid mandatory process yes for a decade.

Like with everything in Reason, there's always more than meets the eye. You can use it's envelope follower as a lag processor with individual rise and fall times when you patch CV into it. And then there's the audio rate modulation of both filter cutoff and amplitude, by both the internal LFO that goes up to audio rate (12 khz), and any incoming audio that you choose to direct to it (it has special jacks for that). This is not something your average distortion plugin does afaik.

Echo? Come on...WTF??? It's an echo with modulation options. I mean...just visit free area and see for yourself. Some top notch stuff which far surpass - Reason Echo. Don't get me wrong Reason echo is vast improvement over old echoes but it's been done to death as everything you can imagine.

The Echo has a very smart "keep pitch" option which means that you won't get those wobbly effects when changing delay times, this enables you to use the echo as a beat repeater, among other thing. The Echo also has a very smart ducking feature (it practically ducks the actual delay effect when audio is passing through, but as soon as audio stops the delay fades in) that you won't find on your average delay plugin. And then there's the breakout jacks, where you can actually route external effects through The Echo's internal feedback loop. You can for instance route an Alligator and get some weird rhythmic goodness that only affect the actual delays. The roll feature might not be exclusive to The Echo but it's very nice. Instant psychedelic!

Sure, you might be able to automate stuff in i.e. Cubase but not in the same easy way. In Reason, you can just flip the rack and connect a CV cable from The Pulveriser's LFO CV Output and connect it to The Echo's Delay Time CV Input. Just like that! And you can do that with a lot of stuff, the arpeggiator, the step sequencer in Thor, almost anything. And with the Combinator it's possible to modulate parameters that don't even have CV Inputs, making the possibilities near endless.

Those plugin looks powerful as it is. I can achieve same kind of vocal delay ducking easily done by using peak controller in FL, though. It's my favorite plugin, which controls not only FL's plugin parameters but also vst's.

If VST would support their own "back panel feature" as a Standard ( Steinberg needs to write that code?) to be used anywhere.... then... Wink
Why wait for Propellerhead when this could be universal.

There's nothing equal to the three new effects in Reason 6, not to mention their intuitive, fun-to-use and logical GUIs. The Echo is by far my favorite delay plugin; the Alligator is just a brilliant, although limited, device that inspires users to use specific techniques like gating effects and automated filtering; the Pulverizer is a unique combination of filter, panning, extreme compression, saturation, am, fm and parallell processing. You can do a lot with these, especially with all the i/o on the back, but they are still very easy to use and understand.

Please tell me an alternative to the Echo that has the same features and compact interface. I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Why wait for Propellerhead who already have this working, meaning there's no need to wait for anything but the release, when you could wait far longer for Steinberg to start from scratch and make a "me too!" clone.
Fixed that for you. :-}

Because that would then require the DAW to also support this feature, along with the virtual cables. Pretty much you would require what Reason already has.

Meffy... How long it took to PH to do it? Yes now it's here (let's test it first how great it is) but the PH is a CLOSED system and I rather wait as well for an OPEN system so that we can use anything we want.

Great, so wait. I wish you much enjoyment using it. Unlike some, I don't care what other people use and have no interest in convincing them they should feel bad about using what they prefer. I'm weird that way.

Sure like ACE and Bazille with the difference of less restrictions and the ability to have the DAW you prefer to work with.
Think about the future rather then the immediate grat.
Just because Reason already has it is like saying just because Steinber has the VST why other DAW are following up.

Waiting for the VST back panel Standard will give more freedom TO US and that is what it should be. This industry is for US and the profit is for them without getting in the way of free choices.
I know no one is pushing me to get into the Re business, all I'm saying is that it would be also advantageous for us, and for the industry as well, to get this system in the world of VST Standards. Is that a less valuable idea for us?

You are not weird at all. My point is about adding to what is coming for the benefit of all and just vote with our wallet.
