Hello all,

I've just been accepted to a PhD program in the UK today. It will be on the topic of DSP. My supervisor has said that he can't guarantee funding for it. He has told me that he will be looking himself for me, but that I should also be looking. Can anyone recommend good places to apply? Sorry if this is a bit off-topic, but I figured a few people here have been through this before.

Thanks.

yes i'm sure we're all familiar with the short-hand: you've recently been accepted to a phDSP program.

(which also happens to be the sound it makes when you face-palm due to having read this.)

I presume you're focussing on audio DSP? Most of the people Ive known have been doing other stuff (telephony or video applications) so funding came from relevant companies (eg Orange). For realtime audio, how about looking at the games companies? They've got access to far more money than most audio software companies, and a lot of them keep close ties with local universities (eg Abertay up here)

My PhD is funded by my university as I also teach there - is that a possibility? I find it can be quite useful teaching the subject I am also researching - helps me think and test out ideas.
