That might be the case. It's just that I personally don't like the sound of Ferox that much. The quality of Reelbus is on a whole another level in my opinion. The delay feature in ferox also doesn't have any kind of tempo sync feature. In fact I can't even see how to sync it to tempo manually because there is no numerical reading. |

I agree.
Ferox uses a completely different algo so Reelbuss with tape feedback/self oscillation etc would sound completely different AND give us essentially 2 plugins for the price of.......well.......a few jelly beans! Either that 'or'.....Reelbuss algo as a basis for his next 'tape echo' plugin. Just throwin it out there |

Hi!
A bug report here -- the plugin recognizes the key file only if I load Reaper as Administrator. If I simply load Reaper the plugin shows as DEMO. This Win7 x64. |

Thanks - this is a known issue caused by an access rights conflict. The manual ( http://www.toneboosters.com/documentation ) describes how to resolve this (section 1.7.2). |

Thanks! All worked!
Can you comment whether there's possibility of linear-phase OS filter in future? Probably would be CPU hog, but nonetheless... |

I'll just paste what I worte on GS:
I tried Ferox years back and wasn't impressed. Just tried the current demo of Ferox now alongside this new ReelBus plugin, still feel the same way about Ferox, but the new ReelBus plugin is definitely a big step up. Had to insert a leveler plugin after it reducing about -2db to compare with bypass so the auto gain is a bit off. But yeah, that Hybrid mode isn't half bad!. I'd say this plugins good for subtle enhancements for use on busses or main bus, doesn't shrink the soundstage but actually seems to enhance it nicely whilst gluing the sounds together. Though I don't think its all that great for individual sounds or really getting big fat warm drum sounds with heavy enhancing, just kinda misses the mark there compared to what real tape can do. But as a subtle bus enhancer, for 10 euro its an absolute steal!. |

3ee wrote: Not marketing bs! Look, the plugin does what it's suppose to do, just it doesn't retain that much clarity in the hi end part of the spectrum as I wished (UAD Studer anyone? Try Hybrid mode, lower saturation to just 25% (or even lower) , Spectrum to 120% (or even higher if you want more high end) Overbias around center, Circuit clip turn right down to taste (and reduce distortion). And I think I'll take back what I said before about its usefulness on individual sounds, actually this is a pretty creative tool. It still can't give you that super fat warm thump that real tape can give drum sounds, but this thing can really add some texture to sounds to make them less synthetic sounding. More I play with this thing more I apreciate its dynamic response behaviour. This plug coulda been sold at 10 times the price easily. |

I just bought it too. I am so thankful that I did! I am really enjoying the "analogue" magic that it's helping me to emulate on my album/project - in progress. Excellet plugin?
Yes, EXCELLENT! ---- Thanks & God Bless, Bro. Charles Reviewer's Revival Blogsite "Supporting and promoting independent audio software developers." |

OK, ready for some audio? 1. TB ReelBus Test - OFF.wav No saturation. http://www.box.com/s/3a84c7d3b49301a06320 From the start: Nice punchy 808 BD, simple clap with a bit of stereo doubling delay, Fat Juno Bass. Next, some clean synth brass with a bit of reso synth shadow Next, hi-hats pattern + phasey string machine + LFO reso SFX As you can notice the mix is simple and not that great, but it will do. 2. TB ReelBus Test - ON.wav TB ReelBus on kick, clap, hats+percs, bass, brass, string machine, reso SFX + one "Professional-30IPS" on the master bus. http://www.box.com/s/ad5be4ab1dce227f6d5a I've tried to use mild amounts saturation and spectrum with the circuit clip knob mostly to minimum except in some cases where it sounded OK (clap, brass afaik). As you can hear, The 808BD and the bass sounds more bassy-er but not necessarily "warmer" in terms of "tape warmth". The clap was nicely rounded and "oxidized", a bit below harshness. The brass got a bit of pleasant graininess. I held off using to much "spectrum" so that it won't sound very different. The hats+perc are smoothly saturated, also a bit "oxidized" The string machine feels a little bit more present and glued. 3. Tape Test - ON2.wav "Mystery Machine" http://www.box.com/s/8e16da39ac52d596bb39 Note, that this 3rd example is not meant as a comparison with TB ReelBus, it's just intended to point out some things. I specifically driven the input more to get some of the qualities I associate with Tape (punch, warmth, hysterical super-glue presence) 808BD has now a more solid punch and the bass is obviously colored (oxidized) The clap is hysterical and grainy, lovely IMO Brass is grainy, WARM with unmistakeable presence. Hats are super-glued to the string machine, and the result is grain-fuzzy, WARM if perceived with the other instruments, smooth and at the same time they have a bit of that extra clarity and air I was talking about. The reso SFX is very thick and aggressive in a smooth way, highly present! The whole sound is just ripped apart at some point 0:20 and 0:25-26 (because I was driving it too hard) but in a good way. I guess that can be associate a bit with VHS holes in the sound? Note, that only one instance of the "Mystery Tape Machine" was used on the master bus. Who knows what may happen if used with care on multiple channels! Download the examples and ABC them in your DAW, did my best to keep the level the same but some small re-adjustments may be required. |

So what was the Mystery machine?
Would it be Saturn by any chance? ---- Anyone needing a Fabfilter friend 10% discount code? pm me for details. |
