Prosoniq Orange Vocoder

Prosoniq wrote:
This is THE classic OrangeVocoder effect used on popular tracks played on every radio station in the country. Its unmistakeable sound that you won't find anywhere else has made it Prosoniq's top selling product for over ten years! First released in 1998 as a VST plug in the OrangeVocoder has quickly gained a reputation as being the single most flexible and transparent sounding vocoder ever to be available as a plug-in. Its unique sound can be heard in countless movie productions and in many popular songs and is easily recognized. The sound of Prosoniq's OrangeVocoder was originally modelled after a famous hardware device and has been approved by one of the most popular German vocoder manufacturers at the time.

I'd +1 for vocodex too, it's got an amazing sound.

I haven't tried the ones in Razor yet though Smile Will get on that.

if this is in response to Vocodex suggestions, Vocodex is not a "usually bad vst vocoder". in my opinion it beats out ALL of the competition in the vst world, pro "top series" included.

Although I don't have any suggestions, best vocoder could mean anything depending on what kind of sound you're going for. Are you looking for retro-style grunge or ultra-modern clean tones? If you're looking for something super clean and ultra hi-fi, it might be worth checking out one of the FFT based solutions. Spectrumworx Shaper module springs to mind.

Vocodex is amazing. It's even better than the analogue vocoder I have (no kidding).
I would love to have it as 64bit version though as I really hate reaper's bit bridge.

I also love Vocodex. Predator has a nice vocoder that you can you run audio into as an Fx. The nicest sounding is ElectraX, but you can only load samples.
