We've all moved on to valhallaroom now........please try and keep up!

HiHi

Well, I bought RP-verb recently and not that Valhallaroom is worse, no it's really good, but I found tweaking in RP-Verb is much faster.

Thats good to hear. I've thought that this was a good reverb ever since I heard the audio demo. I was really surprised how good it sounded because he is not known as a reverb specialist for example.

I am a reverb lover too. I have been interested in 2CAudio Breeze or Aether (how much difference between them is there in use?) and the Lexicon stuff. I've not felt the need to buy anything for a while though since I got Relab LX480 last year. Now that is really, really good.

Also has anyone checked out the cheap native TC electronic reverb?

But I'd like more options sometime in the future. Didn't I see a sale or some special deal on Lexicon MPX?

I really am not sure anymore i have a favorite.

There was a drum sound i couldn't get a decent clean decay with with , Ear Reverb,Altiverb 7 (!),Breverb2, Eventide Room, Lexicon LXP, RP, AAR, or SSL X-Verb! The sound was a 909 clap with alot of attack and i wanted something for this trance track that had a slight rythmic pre delay then a clear gutsy short-ish decay. I still have an NFR of aether but it's not installed so i can not comment on that one.

I did it in twenty seconds with valhalla room demo. Work that out. Then i went to a friends house who had eos and i got the sound even quicker, like 10 seconds. Then i remembered Eos was made by Sean. Because I still find generally, V room too hard to tweak, and of course, the thousands of reveb options, i grabbed eos for a steal in the MP.. i forgot about this little gem, SOOOO easy to tweak, if it can't do the sound you need, at least you know fast, and can move on to another plug in. RP verb unfortunately sometimes it takes an hour to realise it can't do what you want.

It's stunned me a bit because i used every setting in the lxp imaginable and could not find my sound.

RP sounded very metallic on this particular thing and i went through every verb mode and when i did kind of get there, even with distortion applied, it had no guts. I actually NEEDED the verb to stand out in this particular instance, like it was a rhythmic part of the song.

RP verb changes the sound drastically when you change decay time, other verbs, when you change decay time, they just sound the same, but um, less decay. This can make RP verb very unique and interesting but very frustrating sometimes. The trick with rp verb is to have a small room size with maximum decay if you want a shorter smooth decay. large room size and small decay with RP doesn't work.

RP Verb is working amazingly on synths and bass but look how many i have, i need to trim, it's ridiculous..

but can I??? This has proved that even with all those i couldn't get a simple clap reverb correct and one of the cheapest plug ins around saved the day... Hmmmm.....

EOS is my favourite along with RP-Verb. But i sold it to get RP-Verb but later i will buy it again, as it can do some things so fast and exactly what is needed.

here is a small example of ValhallaRoom vs RP-Verb(first VRoom):

The difference is so little.

Really? I think the first one sounds much better. Smoother. Warmer. Which is which? I'm totally in love with Virsyn's REFLECT but I've been thinking of Valhallaroom or maybe shimmer for weird stuff. I also kind of liked Redline reverb... but they're gone right?

I guess the first one is VRoom, unless he's lying.

One thing I HATE about the RP stuff is it's really really hard not to have clipping in the gain staging. If you just throw "preset whatever" on, you can see the input and output usually in the red. It does not appear to be global though so you have to tweak PER preset.

Sounds great, hard to use.

There's actually a quite a large difference! The first one sounds much better in my opinion. Second one is very clearly "metallic" or ringing in a way. The decay has a tone whereas the first one is just a very diffused ssssssshhhhh sound.

Cheers!

This is why you use earplugs in live music situations and don't play your earbuds so f'n loud kiddies Mad

I can't hear much difference. Neither sounds bad to me. Remember, I own both so I could care less which is the best.

Save money on both the earplugs and expensive gear! Wink

I have some beliefs here ...

In the comparison I think VRoom is exceptionally lively in the way the spectrum evolves as it tails off, and this encodes the impression of a very rich, detailed space relative to RP-Verb.

It took a few listens to really get a sense of what was different sonically, but not distinguishing the two sounds immediately may not mean as much as it seems. Our ears are very acute at picking up on the faintest cues in a sound, and very automatic in using those cues to construct a spatial image. This is true even to the extent a physically unrealistic reverb can very easily exploit the ear without the mind being aware of it.

Consequently while difference in sound may be little and even subtler in a mix, perhaps the difference in impression and image is just as substantial anyway

(Also I kind of want to get a huge anechoic space, let some bats start flying around and then f**k with them by playing predator noises and mating calls through different reverb plugs.)

WRONG! 112dB is up and running and just released a fab compressor, Big Blue Compressor.
