Half a year ago I bought ampLion...though I have no guitar...Embarassed

Because I thought, I could use it even for my synthesizer sounds and especially for leads (as many guitar amps are used for making synthesizer lead sounds fat).

But I still haven't succeed in getting some really fat sounds out of it. Do some of you use ampLion for sculpting synthesizer (lead) sounds and with which settings?

I use a chain of 2 or 3 CMFuzz, (Camel Crusher) with White Lightning and ZebraCM to
start a synth tone. The free CC has easy to use compressor/distortion, and
with a little flanger/phaser, and some reverb if desired, a nice lead instrument
can be had. Amp Lion is a pretty good sim, and should be able to do that.
You could see what Camel Crusher settings are up to, and mimic them with the
controls at Amp Lion. Or team them up. Cool
Cheers

Now I'm a little bit anxious about teaming up Camel and AmpLion - maybe I get a Chameleon out of it?? Very Happy

This is a really personal thing distortion. I use a really wild sync sweep ala Jan Hammer for my "guitarish" leads and I find the free ACMEBarGig Preampus Metal C-15 to be in a league of it's own for rich, non-fizzy, leads. And I own Guitar Rig V...not as good as ACME imo.

Here's a smooth example of U-He Diva with it (and the free TAL Flanger). Check out tthe last chord especially (can you say Miami Vice Theme?)

And if you want all-out distortion...

All the effects on these are free (except Valhalla reverb on Time Out).

Distorted synths can be very effective!
My favorite distortions are
http://www.audiodamage.com/effects/product.php?pid=AD030

and

http://www.meldaproduction.com/mcreativebundle/mmultibanddis tortion.php

And, as glokraw mentioned, layering/chaining distortions, can be great Very Happy

Then I don't need a guitar, if you make rock music with your synthesizer... Smile

Thanks for the tips, I have many VST from ACMEBar and I will try it out... I loved the Redshift Pickup Replacer, but unfortunately there were some bugs and they knocked my REAPER down...

BTW, I love Melda, I would buy them all if I had enough money. They are not so much known than the Wave plugins, but they are much better... Cool
