It sounds like it could be FFT processing of some kind, but I'm not sure. What effect does he use to turn this sound into pure texture? (At 4:23)

Sounds like they did this, more or less, but with a piano:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtDYxNZB0ZI I'm not terribly sure what this "blur" operation is really doing, but it at least might get you pointed in the right direction? EDIT: aah, this makes more sense. From the tool's manual: Quote: The Blur Tool works in a similar way to the Convolution Reverb, by multiplying an impulse sound (in this case, noise), with the waveform. The impulse function is cross-multiplied with the source in a moving average, to smear or 'blur' the sound. The multiplier function is determined by a user-selectable envelope. To retain a sound closer to the original, use narrower shaped envelopes. |
