Quite strange, but the preset HS Switched on voicing causes dramatic audio breakup for me. First I thought it was just Diva as whole, but then I changed preet and the audio break up disappeared. It could be that other presets do this too, but I've not noticed any others as yet. Will keep you posted.

OK actually it seems to be the quality setting doing it as I've tries other presets. Thing is I tried above preset in a clean project... only Diva running and it still broke up badly on dive and even on great to some extent. This was not happening before. It's odd as my system (i7 - 12 Gig Ram) should be more than capable of playing back one Diva preset on divine without this happening. |

I've had it for a few weeks now tho and it was fine, it definitely feels like something "happened". I mean why would audio be breaking up when he CPU usage is reporting at around 10% ? Last thing I remember doing was creating a new folder from inside Diva, maybe it is my imagination but it felt like it started after that. Of course maybe it's just coincidence.
I tried a reinstall but it's still the same. I realise Diva is a hog but I really thought an i7 processor should be able to play 1 patch on "divine" with nothing else loaded. Wondering if there's something else letting me down like buffer setting, my crappy graphics card ? |

Perhaps you can try the beta version here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=346323
Urs links to it a few posts down. The specific preset you talk about is quite heavy and also causes breakups on my machine if multi threading is not enabled. In the beta linked above you will find a "Multi threaded" button just under the quality settings. Try to enable that and play the preset Edit: I notice that you say that "something happened". Hard to say what, but if you take a backup of your existing Diva version it can't hurt to try the beta. |

I think I am narrowing it down to patches that are on poly mode and divine setting. I guess this may seem obvious to many but I did think that the polyphony CPU hit took effect when you actually played the notes not when you had the ability to play the notes ?
I'd appreciate any tips folk have for working around this situation as I really love the sound one can achieve with this beast. EDIT : between not noticing this before and my MSEG confusion, I'm feeling a bit dumb |

It allows a single instance of Diva to use multiple cores of your CPU and reduces this problem drastically. |

As to what "happened" I made a guess that my Diva data path was causing the problem as I know some people had an issue with it before, although I didn't have it in a write protected part of the disc. That said I reinstalled and switched it to my documents as recommended and it was the same. The issue was most like ly there before and just sheer dumb luck meant I'd not really encountered it. No problem, I just discovered the beta 30 minutes before I saw your post and noted the improvement Just remember that it isn't magical extra power, it will create the same (Maybe even a bit more due to overhead of threading, probably neglectable though) usage on your system as a whole. But it surely improves the playability of a single instance. |
