Try setting the amp sustain to zero on your patches and tweak the decay to get your note length right. Your stabs are significantly longer than those in the given example, and in each of your attempts the stab appears to be at a flat volume level determined by the amp sustain value. The original file has ultra short stabs decaying to zero with no sustain, carried by some fairly wet reverb. This could be one of the reasons why they sound more percussive and, well, stabby.
