I recognize the album cover in the third picture, but not sure about the first two.

Album titles based on the titles of novels?

Nice guess, but no.
It has something to do with how the albums were made.

OK, I'm in the same boat as robojam, so time for a wild guess. Albums that Bill Laswell was involved with?

I know what two and three are, and I'm fairly certain the link has to do with sampling. Hint? Or more of the covers?

I know number 3 was pretty revolutionary when it was released, but don't know 1 and can't place 2. I'm sure that in some way it's sampling or found sounds.

All three were indeed milestones in sampling, although №1 was involuntarily so, in a non-technical sense.

A bit hazy on the exact link, but:

1) Biz Markie - I Need a Haircut. First(?) album brought to court over unauthorised use of samples.
2) D.J. Shadow - Endtroducing. First(?) album to be constructed (almost) completely from samples.
3) Byrne & Eno - My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. First album to feature significant use of samples?
