try Fokke van Saane's free impulse responses, he's got some very nice spring reverb IRs in there:

http://duc.avid.com/archive/index.php/t-262864.html nice link, just downloaded, some nice IRs in there, thanks. (though for spring reverb I think a IR is too static imo) |

I don't know if there are any IRs out there for the spring reverb tank used in the Roland RE-201 Space Echo, but that unit has THE SOUND:
http://www.musicofsound.co.nz/blog/beautiful-tech-roland-re- 201-space-echo IIRC, the RE-201 used a reverb tank with 3 short springs, and will sound less smooth than the typical Accutronics unit with 2 long springs used in Fender amps and many standalone spring reverb units. Listening to King Tubby, my guess is that he used an Accutronics tank, but with 1 of the springs removed or damped (i.e put some foam tape on it), as his sound is much closer to a single spring. I don't know how accurate the emulation is (and I couldn't care less) but I love the RE-201 emulation in Guitar Rig Both the reverb and the delay sound absolutely great and you have a lot of control over them. There are parameters for the delay "warble", tape dropouts, tape headroom, the spring size etc. And the delay is in stereo (the delay heads get panned to the left and to the right), a feature I miss in many emulations. It's also fun to modulate the spring size by an envelope follower and stuff like that I love the Guitar Rig modulation system Cheers Dennis ---- Back from the dead - Sorry if I didn't answer your mails/PM/whatever during the last few months. definitely, but those IRs are the closest i can get to the spring reverb sound for now. although, as far as impulse responses go, his stuff is brilliant. |

I love the Guitar Rig modulation system I was beginning to think I was the only one. The spring reverb in Guitar Rig is not the most realistic I've heard but it's definitely nice. Modulating the spring size and reverb time with a stepped random LFO results in some really interesting sounds. I really lust for one of these... http://www.knasmusic.com/products/moisturizer/moisturizer.ph p |

I use it all the time! Has anybody here ever tried the Boss RE-20 twin pedal? http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=896 I have one of these and they are also tons of fun. |

Now that I think of it, no one yet made a proper "Dub" multi-FX vst, while ironically this is quite possibly exactly what people want, I know I do.
It could be a switchable multi-module unit, containing a (ping-pong capable or with an autopan) delay, a filter, a tape emu and a spring reverb with a big bunch of presets and user-friendly ergonomics. Just sayin... |

I like the stereo nature of them, which I guess isn't very realistic, but imo the sound is what matters. |
